Week One
[Yesterday, everyone woke up in a strange place and realized that they'd been kidnapped, and also that everyone else around them may or may not be kinnies? Wow, what a weird escalation of kin drama! Given what some people have seen of Spongebob's freaky arm thing, though, maybe it's not that at all?
Your Assistant Director, Hester, showed off her stuff and immediately had her life threatened by Lumpy Space Princess, who got her life threatened right back. Maybe you should keep that in mind if you decide to pay Hester any more visits! She won't be making another public appearance this week, but as promised, she'll be available for visits and consultation in the Principal's Office during business hours.
If you don't want to chat with Hester, there's always the school to explore! Some of you might also be receiving mysterious coins next to your bedside this week - those must be useful for something, right? There's lots to do, and you all seem like a group who can make your own fun, so enjoy your first week of school!]

(( OOC: This will be the last mod post for this week! Feel free to start submitting regains for any threads that aren't with Hester. Remember, song threads mean an extra coin! This is a peace week, so get all that CR while you can! ))

[ Orpheus looks up from the notebook, still looking visibly rattled. He has the jacket laid out carefully on the ground along with the rest of his winnings(?) and glances at it before looking back at the girl. The girl who's just asked him a question. What did she ask him? Oh, right. He takes a second to respond, but he does catch up to what's going on around him before she has a chance to repeat the question or anything. ]
Oh, um, yes. Do you want it? I don't think it would fit me very well.

[ said to the vending machine, not poor orpheus. but speaking of orpheus... ]
... You good?
no subject
[ He's tempted to just ignore the question and move on, and try to forget about the notebook, but it feels like in a situation like this the best thing to do is warn people, so. He shakes his head. ]
No. This book came out of the machine, too, and it says - here, look.
[ He holds it out, open to the first page, which is inscribed with the words; The human whose name is written in this note shall die. ]
no subject
That's... some wildly edgy shit. That came out of the thing too?
no subject
The rest of the pages are blank, so it's - it's probably okay? And I'm sure no one here would try to use it, but... [ He does not like holding something this potentially dangerous. Who would make something like this? ]

There's just so much going on here that I don't understand - I didn't want to assume? If it is magic, it might be hard to destroy. [ Artifacts of the gods tend to be pretty durable. Orpheus frowns, and looks over at the kitchen, thinking about the gas burners on the stove. ] Should we try... burning it?
no subject
I mean... I'm not exactly the "starts fires" kind of social outcast, but it might not be a bad idea just in case.
no subject
Just in case. I know it's dangerous to burn stuff inside, but if this really is as bad as it looks, we can't have it in here.
[ He'll step over the ring of junk he's lined up on the floor, setting the cup of coffee down on a table and heading into the kitchen, where he'll light the stove and very carefully hold he notebook over it by its corner. Here goes nothing! ]
no subject
Oh good, we don't have to dig around for matches.
no subject
The bad news: there is a TREMENDOUS ringing noise from somewhere around the ceiling, and Orpheus drops like a stone, falling to his knees and covering his ears. ]
What is that? What's going on? [ he yells over the riot of sound, only to be answered by a spray of water from above, dousing both of them and the fire and also the entire room. Whoops! ]
no subject
Janis winces, holding her hands up to her ears and, after a moment, trying to cover her head from the water. ]
Well, we know the fire alarm works!
no subject
[ The fact that this girl seems less mortally terrified and more annoyed does sort of assure Orpheus that he hasn't brought down the wrath of an angry god (or wizard??) on them, but that's still not a pleasant sound and getting rained on isn't especially fun either. He clambers back to his feet and scoops up what's left of the notebook on his way back into the cafeteria, where it's slightly less loud and not storming indoors.
On the bright side the notebook is pretty effectively a blackened piece of charcoal now. No one's gonna try writing on that any time soon! ]
no subject
She's going to go ahead and follow him again, because getting rained on by sprinklers is not, surprise surprise, her idea of a good time. ]
It's a fire alarm! It... goes off automatically when there's smoke!
[ It takes a second, perhaps, for hearing to even out. ]
no subject
[ He's still clutching the charred remains of the book, getting wet soot all over his hands and the front of his formerly nice white uniform, with the intent of disposing of it even more thoroughly later. How? Get back to him, he's still thinking. ]
