Week One

[Yesterday, everyone woke up in a strange place and realized that they'd been kidnapped, and also that everyone else around them may or may not be kinnies? Wow, what a weird escalation of kin drama! Given what some people have seen of Spongebob's freaky arm thing, though, maybe it's not that at all?

Your Assistant Director, Hester, showed off her stuff and immediately had her life threatened by Lumpy Space Princess, who got her life threatened right back. Maybe you should keep that in mind if you decide to pay Hester any more visits! She won't be making another public appearance this week, but as promised, she'll be available for visits and consultation in the Principal's Office during business hours.

If you don't want to chat with Hester, there's always the school to explore! Some of you might also be receiving mysterious coins next to your bedside this week - those must be useful for something, right? There's lots to do, and you all seem like a group who can make your own fun, so enjoy your first week of school!]

[ Well, that's sure something. Janis hangs in the doorway for a bit, but then enters and just. ]

Well howdy, pardner.

[ it's. it's not what a person would call a good accent. ]

[Varian pauses in his playing when Janis interjects, and really it's hard not to laugh at that.]

Howdy.

[He shifts in his seat a bit, leaning back and stretching out his hands.]

Any requests? I kindof...mostly know tavern stuff, but I'm pretty good at picking out tunes by ear.

Uh...

[ She exhales, considering. ]

I mean I've never been in a tavern, so that works out. You want me to just start something up and you follow along?

Works for me! Go for it.

[Admittedly, the music Varian's heard was from outside of said taverns- he has no business going to them alone for the most part- but he seems eager to play for her all the same.]

[ alright, something with piano that isn't super old and isn't her being a complete parody of herself with, like, a mitski track or something

... okay it definitely paints her as a weird artsy teenager and it's not really a piano-forward song, but!! ]

[Piano forward or no, it's not too difficult for Varian to pick up the tune. It's a nice upbeat song, which is what he's more used to playing. Janis might have to put up with him fumbling a note or two here and there, but one of Varian's strong points is that he can learn stuff on the fly.

He hums along to keep his place, and since this is a space in which anyone can know any song, that means that Varian's perfectly capable of joining her when the chorus kicks in.]
