Week One

[Yesterday, everyone woke up in a strange place and realized that they'd been kidnapped, and also that everyone else around them may or may not be kinnies? Wow, what a weird escalation of kin drama! Given what some people have seen of Spongebob's freaky arm thing, though, maybe it's not that at all?

Your Assistant Director, Hester, showed off her stuff and immediately had her life threatened by Lumpy Space Princess, who got her life threatened right back. Maybe you should keep that in mind if you decide to pay Hester any more visits! She won't be making another public appearance this week, but as promised, she'll be available for visits and consultation in the Principal's Office during business hours.

If you don't want to chat with Hester, there's always the school to explore! Some of you might also be receiving mysterious coins next to your bedside this week - those must be useful for something, right? There's lots to do, and you all seem like a group who can make your own fun, so enjoy your first week of school!]

Well. Hopefully, Play Regionals, whatever that is, will help us have a successful performance. [this is going so over his head, but he's just rolling with it]

And then! Straight onto CHEER-- I mean-- PLAAAAAY! NATIONALS! Even though our team totally sucks and some of us are addicted to drugs, it's going to be the! Best! Play! Ever! Through my use of a POSITIVE ATTITUDE and the ability to BOSS EVERYONE AROUND! [Maybe you should recast her as an actress, with this level of LARPing.]

[what is she even doing. One of Salieri's hands goes to his chin, half covering his mouth to hide the smile, but his amusement is still evident at the corners of his eyes]

I cannot help but wonder if this is a parody of some kind, considering I don't believe any of us are addicted to any sort of drug. Although the ability to boss people around can certainly be a boon when trying to direct any kind of show.

You caught me. I'm not really the responsible type-- so I thought-- who do I know that is? [She hums, slipping out of character and casting a thoughtful glance up, exaggerated in her methods still-- but much more like the professional audience member she was yesterday.]

So I decided to act like my cheer captain. She cares so much it's painful. Tomorrow, I'll bring charts!

Charts? [Salieri's eyebrows raise at that, still looking rather entertained.]

As much as that does pique my curiosity... [some of that amusement fades as he studies her, watching her with a bit of calm curiosity]

It is your name that I put on that list, not your captain's. If you wish to emulate her, then by all means, but I don't require such a thing nor expect it of you.

[Farrah doesn't know what to do with that. She stares at him a moment, then reaches up, and tugs the ribbon loose from her hair.]

You shouldn't really expect anything of me. [She says it bitterly, but bounces back with a sense of humor about her.] It's exhausting to pretend to be Riley for more than 3 minutes at a time, anyway.

[he is going to note that bitterness, though his expression doesn't change]

I can imagine. She seems very excitable. [there's that mild hint of amusement back]

However...Mademoiselle Farrah, what you should understand is this: [Salieri folds his arms over his chest, still watching her] I didn't choose you as an assistant director out of any specific expectation. It was mostly out of curiosity of your potential. Most assistant directors, or even directors themselves, started as Professional Audience Members. So, if you have an interest, I'd be happy to walk you through what the position normally entails, and you can decide how much of it you wish to do or not do.

I'm not too sure about potential, either. But I guess it's something to do, before I become the audience. [She shrugs, gently trying to lower his expectations before they've started. She has a bad history of disappointing people. At least she can say she warned him]

Sure. What should I do?

Come. I'll show you. [he pushes off the stage, walking back to one of the tables in the Cafeteria where there are several short stacks of paper. Once he reaches the table, he reaches out to pick one up that is slightly taller than the others. He then holds it out to her]

Here. This is for you.

Jesus. You kill an entire tree for all this? [Like, shouldn't this place have tablets or something somewhere? What kind of private school still uses paper. She takes the stack, anyway.]

Indeed. I fought it with my bare hands. [neutrally. Is he joking or...???

Anyway, it's fine, it's about 15 pages total, with music written on the front and back]

So there's space for me to draw you fighting that tree. [She matches his tone-- then points a finger at him and grins. EYYYYYYYY?]

[the corner of his mouth quirks upwards at that into a smirk] If you prefer. [he hums a bit] It can also be used concurrently to record the blocking of the scene as it is staged, so in case we come back the next day and the performers have forgotten what they are supposed to do, you can inform them.
