[Yesterday, everyone woke up in a strange place and realized that they'd been kidnapped, and also that everyone else around them may or may not be kinnies? Wow, what a weird escalation of kin drama! Given what some people have seen of Spongebob's freaky arm thing, though, maybe it's not that at all?

Your Assistant Director, Hester, showed off her stuff and immediately had her life threatened by Lumpy Space Princess, who got her life threatened right back. Maybe you should keep that in mind if you decide to pay Hester any more visits! She won't be making another public appearance this week, but as promised, she'll be available for visits and consultation in the Principal's Office during business hours.

If you don't want to chat with Hester, there's always the school to explore! Some of you might also be receiving mysterious coins next to your bedside this week - those must be useful for something, right? There's lots to do, and you all seem like a group who can make your own fun, so enjoy your first week of school!]

What... Not a fan of a rigorous workout? [ Similarly, Peregrine's forgone her uniform for more workout-friendly clothing. Her hair's pulled back in a messy ponytail, but stray strands stick to her forehead with sweat. Despite looking like she's done this for quite awhile, she doesn't seem like she's worn down. ] Just so you know... It's only 'cause I was done with that rep that I'm breaking.

Not a fan of track and field shit. Running is for masochists.

[Strictly speaking, he would be a good runner if he actually enjoyed it. Unfortunately, he hates running and also any and all bleacher exercises. Awful.]

It's good for endurance and stamina. [ She shrugs. ] I'm not wild about it, but you gotta push yourself if you wanna get results.

Eugh. I'm a sprint swimmer, I don't care about that shit. We don't do shit or fuck outside of the pool.

[That's not really true, but Connor doesn't really care about anything else but the actual swimming.]

What about for something other than sports? What if you end up needing to rely on yourself to get through a life-threatening situation?

Remarkably fast for someone who's just run herself up and down a set of bleachers who knows how many times, Peregrine stalks toward him with a severe look. ]

Do not say that. Screw whatever nature intended.

[Luckily for Peregrine, Larry Murphy is the baseline at which he reacts to his own fears. He watches her stalk toward him, nonplussed.]

Nah. I'm not about that life. If nature intends to kill me, then good for it.

No, not good for it. Nature doesn't— it doesn't even intend anything, it does. It does and we have to act accordingly.

[ She glares up at him, steely and determined. ]

You'd just give up? You'd just let yourself die, without doing anything?

[Connor shrugs.]

When you're falling in a forest and there's nobody around... it's not like you ever really crash or even make a sound.

Then you have to pick yourself up and get out of that forest yourself. If there's no one out there... If there's no one looking out for you, then you have to do it alone.

[ Peregrine still breathes heavily. But she doesn't break her gaze. ]

I don't fuck with being a self-rescuing princess, Peregrine. You can do your Katniss Everdeen shtick, and I'll stick to what I'm good at: giving up.

[ Howl would say that he made his choice, then. There's nothing you can do if someone doesn't want to save themself. It never ends well. It just leads to resentment, and betrayal, and—

But, Peregrine...

She pokes him in the chest. ] It's survivalist. Not princess.

[ And she turns to go back to her routine. ]

If you ever wanna take some control, Connor, I'll be here every night 'til I break us outta this place.

Yeah, I know. I'm calling myself a princess and you the Mockingjay.

[He does the whistle, just to make a point.]
