[Well, all escape attempts have failed thus far. None of you have seen the Phantom since his brief appearance on Sunday, or heard from him at all. It looks like, for the time being, you’re all going to be stuck here.

You're free to continue exploring your surroundings to your hearts' content. The only real restriction on your movements is that the kitchen is closed between the hours of 10 pm and 7 am. Better make sure to grab any midnight snacks you may want ahead of time. Also, remember to label any investigation toplevels!

The Merchandise Booth is now open for business as well! The Phantom hasn't deigned to explain how it works, but...well, some of you will start to find mysterious coins in your rooms, and the Booth's got a place to put coins. You'll figure it out.

Should you wish to engage more with your host, you're welcome to drop letters in the box office slot. There's no set way to converse verbally with him, and he's certainly not guaranteed to respond if you just yell at the walls - but that doesn't necessarily mean he isn't listening. Just something to keep in mind.

[ How does Cairo always do it with her? Riley's hands float in front of her, like she's not quite sure what to do with them or where they go. But after a few moments she sets them firm on Steven's shoulders. ]

Steven. I need you to take a deep breath and just look at me for a moment, okay?

[He's- breathing? And doesn't seem likely to immediately dash off and try to fight the Phantom, so good work.]

It's- this sword, I just got it out of the merchandise booth, but my friend Connie should have it. What if they hurt her to take it?

[ Now that she's understood all that, she doesn't know if she likes it. Their friends' things? No, that doesn't sound good at all. She goes a little tense but- keep a steady look on, Riley. ]

I...don't know. He- he clearly has a way to...easily subdue all of us. And we weren't hurt, or remember any of that. So... So why would he hurt your friend? Right?

[That's actually a fantastic point, which will be something he'll desperately cling to once he's not panicking so hard.]

[That. Might actually be kind of a note of anger in his voice, it's fine.]

Maybe it...could've gotten broken, on the way here? [ She doesn't sound like she believes that. ] The only way to know for sure might be to ask him, if...he actually wants to answer a question.

[The message in question seeming to be "We can and will mess with your friends" is probably what's killing his chill, he's pretty anime protagonist like that.]

No, I think it'd have to be broken deliberately somehow. It's- been in a lot of fights, without getting damaged.

I can try asking him, but- you're right, he doesn't seem to actually answer much.

...Tell you what. I'll give it my best try, too. If he's going to...threaten our friends, I absolutely want to know as well.
