week 1
[Well, all escape attempts have failed thus far. None of you have seen the Phantom since his brief appearance on Sunday, or heard from him at all. It looks like, for the time being, you’re all going to be stuck here.
You're free to continue exploring your surroundings to your hearts' content. The only real restriction on your movements is that the kitchen is closed between the hours of 10 pm and 7 am. Better make sure to grab any midnight snacks you may want ahead of time. Also, remember to label any investigation toplevels!
The Merchandise Booth is now open for business as well! The Phantom hasn't deigned to explain how it works, but...well, some of you will start to find mysterious coins in your rooms, and the Booth's got a place to put coins. You'll figure it out.
Should you wish to engage more with your host, you're welcome to drop letters in the box office slot. There's no set way to converse verbally with him, and he's certainly not guaranteed to respond if you just yell at the walls - but that doesn't necessarily mean he isn't listening. Just something to keep in mind.
Enjoy your first week, everyone.]

(( OOC: This will be the last mod post for this week! Feel free to start submitting regains for any threads that aren't with the Phantom. Remember, song threads mean an extra coin! This is a peace week, so get all that CR while you can! ))

I am! Feel free to help yourself! [ She gestures to the plate of finished sammies ]
If you don't mind waiting a little while my delicious banana muffins will be ready soon too.

[Literally. Angus was too angry to be hungry yesterday, and he is famished. He takes a sandwich between his gloved hands, holding it neatly.]
It is fortunate that we are given enough food. I would have assumed this showrunner would prefer to starve us into submission
no subject
[ She starts working on assembling another sandwich as she speaks. ]
Mmm, I’m really grateful for that too. [ And that there’s bananas because how on earth would she cope otherwise without her favourite ingredient ] But it is a little weird in that case, isn’t it?
Maybe his real goal is to actually have us live here forever?

[He'll take a seat at the table. It's not regal to eat while standing.]
Perhaps he once owned this theater and is bitter that he no longer has anyone to work for him.
no subject
[ She looks over both shoulders for a moment, before leaving the sandwich work alone and heading over to the table as well so she can lower her voice. ]
Do they... happen to have a story about a "Phantom of the Opera" in your dimension?
no subject
We have plenty of ghost stories, not all of them fiction. I don't think we have one called that.
no subject
She continues to speak in that hushed tone. ]
Well, you see I ask because there IS a story like that in my world, a pretty famous one even.
It's about this man who always wears a mask to cover his face because of a disfigurement that terrifies everyone who sees it. He lives underneath an opera house and "haunts" it in his quest to make the woman he loves become the primadonna.
[ This is a pretty cliff notes version of it but whatever. The intimate details are not important right now. ]
Because of his loneliness he wants to be with her forever, but in the end he resorts to murder and kidnapping to get what he wants. But an act of kindness from her makes him realize what he's done and he ends up letting her go.
That's the gist of it anyway. It's a pretty sad but popular story that's been adapted for stage multiple times. And considering where we are, I'm not... entirely sure it's NOT the same Phantom.
no subject
Then is this his attempt to make us famous actors? Or is this for the woman he's in love with?
no subject
His loneliness... has something to do with all this...
[ Because haha not like she knows a thing or do about loneliness or anything ]

You have it right; in the story that’s what works, and I would like to think that it might work here too but... I know it’d be naive to think it could be that easy.
no subject
No. You're right. It could be only due to luck that the Phantom of the original story became good. This one might not be the same.
...We come from different universes, after all.
no subject
[ Also he could very well be a giraffe still! We just don't know! ]
But still, it's a good thing to keep in mind. It's the most information we have to go on right now.
no subject
[To defeat the enemy, he must understand what the enemy can do.]
no subject
In most versions he has a "magical lasso"? I believe it's just a noose. The warning they usually give for that is "keep your hand at the level of your eye" so he can't strangle you with it.
[ She imitates the gesture so Angus can see what she means. ]

[He looks up at the ceiling. No one spying on them...at least no one he can see.]
Keep yourself safe. He may be up to his old tricks.
