[Well, all escape attempts have failed thus far. None of you have seen the Phantom since his brief appearance on Sunday, or heard from him at all. It looks like, for the time being, you’re all going to be stuck here.

You're free to continue exploring your surroundings to your hearts' content. The only real restriction on your movements is that the kitchen is closed between the hours of 10 pm and 7 am. Better make sure to grab any midnight snacks you may want ahead of time. Also, remember to label any investigation toplevels!

The Merchandise Booth is now open for business as well! The Phantom hasn't deigned to explain how it works, but...well, some of you will start to find mysterious coins in your rooms, and the Booth's got a place to put coins. You'll figure it out.

Should you wish to engage more with your host, you're welcome to drop letters in the box office slot. There's no set way to converse verbally with him, and he's certainly not guaranteed to respond if you just yell at the walls - but that doesn't necessarily mean he isn't listening. Just something to keep in mind.

[ It's a day of signs, isn't it? There's another one, up very early, taped to the Box Office window. The penmanship is lovely! ]

We need to pool our resources and knowledge! Therefore, we will hold a meeting tomorrow in the dining hall! Please arrive ready to begin discussion at noon.

[ Well, isn't that something? Riley spends most of the day alternating between the costume shop and the storage closet. Taking inventory? Possibly. She's setting aside just...a ridiculous number of clothes, anything she could possibly find that could be considered modern and not a costume. (Which is. A mixed bag.) Riley keeps almost deciding on taking a piece of clothing before shaking her head and putting it back in her pile. This continues for awhile.

The closet, though, she's definitely taking inventory there. She's found herself a clipboard and is using it to mark things off as she talks to herself. ]

Mmhm, expected. Understandable... This place is stocked, isn't it?

[It's Ariel's turn to look sheepish. He glances downward, rubbing at the back of his neck.]

I am afraid not. But if you have spent so much time working on the craft, then surely it is quite an important aspect of your life. I can admire the devotion, if nothing else.

Mhm. I'm surprised we were given all this, to be honest; maybe the Phantom's just too lazy to clean this place out.

[She was on her way to Room 19, for a second. A split one. But her ADD got the better of her, and suddenly, she bolts out of the dressing room area entirely to make a mad dash to the kitchen.

She eventually returns to Room 5 with a thin knife, which she attempts to slide in behind the mirror. She'll try it all around the mirror, just in case she can manage to trigger something.

At the same time, she doesn't want to break the rules, so she keeps babbling to herself all the while.]

Excuse me! Sorry, Mr. Phantom, I'm not going to hurt you with this if you're behind there! I really just want to talk!

Yep! I sure did! [ A big proud smile ]

I love cooking, so I figured it was the least I could do to help keep everyone's spirits up.

[That looks suspicious! Can he feel around that pattern for seams or signs of how it can be moved?]

[ Oh hey Riley! She smiles and waves from the floor, where she's leaning over one leg. ]

Oh, not at all! Come and join me-- it's weird practicing by myself.

[ Mornings at least are usually so much more bustling and animated :( ]

[If anyone could annoy coerce the Phantom into providing them chocolate, it would probably be Christine, but she decides to take a look around and try to make do with what they have.]

That could work? Oh, unless you mash the bananas in the batter? I know some people do, but strawberries would taste better as chunks inside the batter, I think.

If that how it works, then yes. [Radio wizards.] It might be hidden underground, if we can't see signs of such technology up here.

[Jeremy found regular clothes yesterday, after a lot of searching. Because I think I'm funny. Anyway now he has two sets of clothes to wash and that seems like enough for laundry with all the bedding. Honestly, he's considering just washing individual outfits, just to drive up the Phantom's water bill. Fuck you, asshole.]

Oh - uh. Hey, Stephen.

[He's just holding a pile of laundry.]

[There does seem to be a thin seam around that entire block! No hinges or anything on this side, though.]

[How thin is the seam? Can he stick something thicker than a piece of paper inside?

...And what happens if he knocks on it very loudly? He will not cease being a pest to the Phantom.]

[ a small giggle ] I do my best!

[ She starts working on assembling another sandwich as she speaks. ]

Mmm, I’m really grateful for that too. [ And that there’s bananas because how on earth would she cope otherwise without her favourite ingredient ] But it is a little weird in that case, isn’t it?

Maybe his real goal is to actually have us live here forever?

[Too thin to get anything substantial in there to pry it open, unfortunately!

As for the latter - how hard are you knocking?]

[Pretty hard. He wants to make it loud.]

[Well, it's a bit difficult to wedge anything into there. But if you give it enough effort, you can probably get a thin knife in there! Wiggle it around the perimeter of the mirror, and eventually -

- oh! Something went chnk!]

[Oh that's a good noise! That's a something might be opening noise! Christine wraps her fingers around the frame again and pulls with all her might! Please open, please open!]

[Okay! After a few solid knocks, you drop into a pit!

It isn't a long fall at all, probably easy to take if you're expecting it, which of course you were not. As you drop, you see movement from the corner of your eye, in several places. There's other people down here with you! An army of foes!

The phantom men - Phantoms? - dart eerily around you as you spin about to try and face them. Heart thundering, you try to pursue your captor...



...oh. Wait. These are just a bunch of mirrors. There's actually nothing going on down here.]

Oh! Yes, I am. They’re all pretty up to date with what I’m used to back home.

[ She pauses for a moment. She’s already met a prince from another dimension, there’s a humanized gem stone walking around, and the Phantom of the Opera is here, inside their mind - none of that even touches the shit she’s gotten up to back home. Suddenly his question seems a lot less weird to her. ]

Do you not have them where you’re from?

[The mirror opens smoothly! Someone must take care of this mechanism!

Behind it, there's a dank, unlit corridor that extends about a yard into the wall. It terminates there in a brick wall. The bricks in the wall are not the same color as the ones lining the corridor. Weird.]

[Oh. He finally stops moving and notices his own reflection in the mirrors. His heart calms at the lack of danger.

Are there anything behind the mirrors? Possibly another passage or actual foes?]

[There is a ladder you could use to ascend back to the ballroom!

There is also a door!]

[Oh good, he does not have to call for help.

He will attempt to open that door!]

I do mash them, yes. But you’ve got a good point— chunks would definitely be better for strawberries than a puree.

[ Would that mess up the moisture levels...? But strawberries ARE pretty juicy... 🤔 ]
