[Well, all escape attempts have failed thus far. None of you have seen the Phantom since his brief appearance on Sunday, or heard from him at all. It looks like, for the time being, you’re all going to be stuck here.

You're free to continue exploring your surroundings to your hearts' content. The only real restriction on your movements is that the kitchen is closed between the hours of 10 pm and 7 am. Better make sure to grab any midnight snacks you may want ahead of time. Also, remember to label any investigation toplevels!

The Merchandise Booth is now open for business as well! The Phantom hasn't deigned to explain how it works, but...well, some of you will start to find mysterious coins in your rooms, and the Booth's got a place to put coins. You'll figure it out.

Should you wish to engage more with your host, you're welcome to drop letters in the box office slot. There's no set way to converse verbally with him, and he's certainly not guaranteed to respond if you just yell at the walls - but that doesn't necessarily mean he isn't listening. Just something to keep in mind.

[She giggles and goes for a bow then. Seems formal enough for the gravity of her promise.]

It's just a plastic one... it's not like I'm really making you royalty, right? It's just for fun. Besides, I thought you'd look handsome and dignified. Maybe there's someone here you could really impress!

[Oh, Riley, you sweet thing. Christine just shakes her head as she starts pacing around. She's gotta keep moving or the thoughts will stop!]

Well, number 1, we don't have a script, so we really don't have anything to stick to right now. And number 2, improvisation is a crucial skill for any actor! Sometimes your cast member will forget lines, and you'll have to help cover for them to get the scene back on track. Improv helps with that. Plus, it can really help with stage fright and stuff. If you've already performed with nothing to go off of, having a whole script to follow is easy!

[You'll have to forgive me for making this joke, but Jeremy pulls a dress off the rack.]

[Wow. This laundry detergent bottle sure is interesting! He's really studying the instructions. For the laundry detergent he's been using all week.]

[She gives her fingers a little razzle-dazzle wave]

Like that. It's half-concert, half-competition-- but it's a nice chance to finally tell my story. Perhaps lacking in the leadership aspect that cheerleading has.

[She purses her lips-- then thrusts a few things over towards Riley. A dress in blooming sunflowers-- it's retro, and perhaps a little bold for Riley, but Anne thinks it suits her. There are a few solid leotards in there to, and skirts that are mostly vintage style, but manage not to be ugly.] There. If you layer them, they seem less ridiculous. You could probably get away with cutting the skirts off a few of the dresses here too, if we could find anything to make alterations with.

[ Forget their lines... Oof. Riley gulps. ]

I...think this is why I never took with theater. I'm not really good at the whole...thinking on your feet in a social performative context thing, unless it's, you know. With pom-poms.

[ Running a finger over the inscription, Riley finally glances back up. ]

I mean. I'm a teenager in modern society, I know a fair bit. Maybe not...the nitty-gritty electro-meaty bits, but...I know things.

[ Before she can say much else, Riley's got clothes in her arms! She gives a little surprised squeak, because the dress is a bit bold for her, but. The colors, the basic style, it doesn't look bad, now, not at all. Looking over everything, she wonders just how she could find so little. ]

Thank you, this is...more than enough. [ If we're able to actually get out of here soon, but like WHY WOULDN'T WE hahhahaha don'tthinkaboutit. ] ...I...never thought of modifying them. You've got a real creative mind for fashion.

Mmm, I don't know about all the time, that seems a little excessive... maybe just when they think the Phantom is near?

Ohhh, I see. Chemistry does sound similar, yeah.

In that case, you'll probably be really good at baking once you learn how to use the appliances! They say baking is just like science!

[ Nana's not sure about the "all productions will be amazing" thing but she keeps that to herself. She is maybe... a little too sentimental at times. ]

Oh yeah, I guess you would huh... maybe they'd be a little more lenient after all this? Or... actually, maybe that'll make it harder...

[ She wouldn't know what convincing parents is like after all. ]

That's no problem at all! Everyone's gotta start somewhere after all!

[ She's about to put the cloth back down and say "ah, okay" when Riley turns down the cookies, but then she asks why she's taking them to the box office and she looks down at them, looking a little... bashful? ]

Oh well... I was going to leave them there... for someone...

[ ...yeah there's only one someone you leave anything at the box office for sooooo... ]

Is that so? [He supposes that he can see the resemblance, even if he would never draw the comparison himself.]

Perhaps I'll change my profession, then. Become a baker and search for the ultimate recipe, rather than anything else.

[You remember how at the party he collapsed like a puppet whose strings had been cut? Yeah. So anyway that happens again. Jeremy's just lying on the ground now.]

I guess we just won't get a straight answer out of him. I didn't really get an answer either.

[ Riley can't fight back the sigh. ]

Ohhh, no. Nana, not you too. Him? Really?

[ Okay. So. That just happened. She just watched that happen. He falls to the ground and Riley's up in a flash, with a small gasp of fear. She kneels at his side and tries to get him up. ]

Jeremy?! Jeremy, what- ?!

Or when they are alone...

[He looks up at the ceiling. No one spying on them...at least no one he can see.]

Keep yourself safe. He may be up to his old tricks.

Did you ask him about the time difference, too?

Either way, I doubt he would give a straight answer, but...

[She pauses, nibbling at the muffin a little more.]

I...you have every right to say no to this, but do you want to know what it’s like at my time point? If you don’t, that’s one hundred percent fine. I won’t push it, but I did want to ask you.

Yeah, I did. [ well technically she actually asked about something else entirely but it was related and she's not up to talk about it anyway.

Claudine's next question gives her pause though. Truth be told, she'd been thinking about asking Claudine about that... or specifically, asking her one question in particular: who won the Revues? But she's scared. She's scared that if she knows for sure what happened then it'll really all be over... everything she worked for. Done. Poof. With nothing she can do about it.

She stays quiet in thought for a few moments more before responding: ]

...I think it might be best if I don't know. Not yet anyway. After all, if we go back home and I'm back at my time then...

[ Another pause before she lowers her voice a bit more, not wanting anyone else to hear if they happen to pass by. ]

It might affect... my performance in the revues.

[musacal]

[ At least she looks a little embarrassed about being caught! ]

W-Well, I just thought it wouldn't hurt to be nice to him, you know? And he liked the last few things I left for him...

[ Oh god this isn't even the FIRST baked good she's given him. ]

[It’s a heavy question, one that Claudine almost regrets asking the moment that the words are out. At the same time, though, if she’s honest with herself, she wouldn’t be able to forgive herself if she didn’t at least give Nana the choice. She’s one of the kindest people Claudine knows, and withholding information from her - or pushing the point and telling her what happened without even asking - would be cruel. Nana doesn’t deserve that.]

That’s completely fair. I would never put you into a position where you wouldn’t be able to perform at your best. That wouldn’t be right.

[She pauses.]

We’ll figure this out, whatever these supposed circumstances are, and we’ll make it right. Even if I have to duel him myself to get to the bottom of things.
