WEEK 1

[With the introduction of their showrunner and a brief run through of what they're in for in their time in the Opera House out of the way, the performers are free to explore the first floor of the opera house at their leisure then and for the rest of the week that lies ahead. The double doors leading to the kitchen will be unlocked at 7 am and locked at 10 pm for intermission. Performers are free to prepare meals for themselves and others at any time outside of intermission.

The Merchandise Booth will also be open for business after the first day as some of the performers may find envelopes with their names on it taped to their doors in the morning.

If performers wish to have private conversations with their showrunner, The Balladeer, just step up to the box office and see if he's in.

Of course! [She loses grip of the peeler again and cuts her finger. She immediately drops the peeler and grabs her hand.] Oww... Where's the first aid kit?

[She looks over at her.] Really? You seem like you'd be really popular.

"Huh. That's real science fiction like, isn't it? You could probably write a novel."
[She's genuinely not trying to being cheeky.]

"You know, that does explain why he doesn't know me."

[Why do so many people here not know how to do their laundry. D-ne's washing her school uniform, wearing a simple dress in the meantime.]

Maybe they were already here. I don't actually know what's in the back of most theatres. Besides, how else do they make the concession food?

[Hime takes a deep breath and starts taking things out.] Okay, so she uses eggs, soya sauce, sugar... Wait, do we have the right pan?

[D-ne stares at Hime...

...and then burst into laughter.]

M-me? Ohh, you're joking, no! So far from it, Hime-san, so very far from it!

"Nu-uh!"[She shakes her head as she speaks.]

"Max makes it sometimes. It's a real new thing to eat, you know. But the box looks different."

[She laughs more, and while she does she drops her spoon and...holds clasps her hands in front of her chest. Tight. So much that- are her fingernails digging into her skin?]

[Hime drops her fork and pulls away, even if she's already a few seats down the table.]

D-ne-san, you're scaring me! What's going on now?

[The laughter subsides to giggles, and as it does D-ne raises a hand to her eyes, to cover them...or to wipe something away. All the while, she still smiles.]

A- ah... Oh, a- m-my apologies, H- Hime-san. [A soft laugh. Her breath catches.] Y-you- ah, you caught me- o-off-guard.

[Hime shifts in her seat and looks toward the door, but... well, running away never helped, and she's supposed to be trying.]

I... think people here like you? So it's okay! Because that means. Um. Yes.

[She can start trying to find that!]

Maybe? There are a lot of pans here, what am I looking for?

[Oh, so Hime's...uncomfortable, is she? Yes, that appears to be it. D-ne's not surprised.]

"Okay." Ha. [The smile on D-ne's face now more than any other time looks like what it is: a mask.] I didn't mean to scare you. I can...get like that sometimes.

[If she doesn't own it, she's no better than...]

...You have simply...spoken one of my dearest desires...Hime-san. Something that's a little impossible. So... I, ah, reacted.

[ She makes a small affirming noise, pushing more at a section of her hair.]

"Max usually does it. We use and electric curler and rollers overnight but I don't have any of that."

A tamagoyaki pan is usually a rectangle. It would look really weird in a round one.

[Hime looks over to D-ne again and nods.]

People are hard to talk to.

Oh, Max. [This means nothing to her, of course, but D-ne nods along. She's already initiated conversation, so she can't just stop talking.] ...Could you...ask our showrunner? See if he has any? Tools to, ah, style hair must be...needed, in shows.

Yes. Y-yes, they really are.

[D-ne...picks up her spoon and begins stirring her cereal once more.]

[She shifts in her seat and pokes at her food.]

Y-you're welcome! Um... is there anything... um.

[Back to spooning cereal into her mouth, as if her split-second breakdown hadn't happened.]

[Hime gets up, bows, and runs off who knows where with her plate. Sorry the nerves couldn't last long. :(]
