WEEK 3
[The past weekend has been a difficult one. With Valjean's murder and D-ne's brutal execution the monotony has been broken and it can be said the show is finally and truly underway.

When the performers emerge from their rooms on Monday morning the decor of the opera house has changed. Not drastically but someone was busy during the night with some redecorating. There are cobwebs draped over nearly everything, some of them with tiny plastic spiders stuck in the cotton webbing, and pumpkins of various sizes on the floor and on the tables. Some of the walls have been adorned with cartoon-ish paper skeletons and scarecrows and in the ballroom a poseable plastic skeleton has been posed at the piano looking ready to play. Someone's even set a bowl of candy on the counter of the merch booth.

But that's not all. There's a light coming from the now open doorway in the lobby that had been previously locked for the past two weeks. This new floor is similarly decorated but why not go have a look and explore for yourself?

Despite their losses, the show must go on after all.

[she slides the book into the shelf.]

I have no idea. There's so many to choose from.

[She picks out a random book. Outlander?...

She puts it back and goes to look for another.]

Too many...I don't even know where to start.

Well, is there a genre you like or anything?

...I don't know. I was only allowed to read certain books back home. They weren't really...genre books.

That sounds unhealthy. Why couldn't you read whatever you wanted?

Mother didn't approve of human literature. She didn't want it to cloud my mind...and divert me from my mission.

[Oh hey a book called Hatchet. That looks fun!]

Okay, this is swerving way too fast into tragic backstory territory. Time to change the subject.

...All right.

[She starts to get another book.]

What would you recommend?

Well, I get that you don't have experience with this kind of thing, but what kind of books do you think you'd like?

...Maybe books where...good triumphs over evil. But in a good way. Like an epic.

The Odyssey, maybe?

What's that about?

This guy who has to overcome a bunch of obstacles to make it back to his wife.

...That sounds...sweet.

[To get back to his wife...]

It's actually pretty fucked up, but you'll figure that out soon enough. If they even have it here, that is.

Who wrote it?

[Odyssey...Odyssey...]

Homer. He was a Greek poet.

Homer...Homer...

[Suddenly, her eyes light up.]

I found him. And he has two books!

Let me guess. The other one is the Iliad?

That's exactly right...!

[YOU ARE SUPER SMART NATALIE]

Yeah. I'm secretly psychic, so it makes sense.

Oh, I didn't know...!

[Damnit Natalie]

[She could correct her... But nah.]

There's a lot you don't know about me.

I know...

[These are pretty hefty books. She's adding them to the pile for sure!]

[A slight pause.]
