Week 7

[Last week, on It's Curtains...boy, that sure was a year-long week, huh?

But despite it all, you've gotten through it with less death than there might have been. Spongebob and Farrah both survived their ill-conceived plan; Maya, with the intervention of Janis and Hester, survived her triple murder. Since the failed execution, there has been no sign of the Wizard or of Hester. It seems like you may have gotten away with that cleanly!

When you wake up on Sunday, you remember everything. All the gaps, the missing pieces, entire chunks of time from back home - they're back and neatly fitted where they should be in your heads. Elle, Orpheus, and Eurydice have also been given graves alongside the others in the garden. These ones were filled in for you; after all, you were all pretty occupied over the weekend.

Other than that...it seems like some unusual posters have been put up around the school. Sounds like something's going to happen this week. You'd better prepare.]

[ She will, gracefully, not mention Peregrine in return. But nothing is antagonistic or accusatory about the statement when she makes it.

She snorts. ]

Easier to have someone's babies when they're alive, after all. I cannot believe that was going to be the last thing she said to me.

[ Yeah, Peregrine's mouth twitches a little. Maybe a smile? She doesn't look at Janis either way. Just takes another drag, thinking about the last thing she would've said to Maya. ]

She always makes a statement.

[ Janis exhales. ]

As much as I love our girlfriend, and I think by now I have proved that, the Maya discourse is a little strong for me right now. Let's talk about us instead?

[ She thinks about Maya. About Howl. About…last Sunday— ]

Uh... how was your memory? How's... things?

It... It was. ...Longer than any of the other ones I've, uh... It feels...final, somehow? Like that's everything.

Yeah, mine felt final, too. Wasn't too long, though. Except also it kind of was?

I got Act Two. But I remembered the curtain call, which... was a lot of time.

[comeandfindme]

...But. Curtain calls are usually like...five minutes, or something, right?

[fourbutts]

Right, but during curtain call the fourth wall is thinner and I sort of... know more stuff.

[ She frowns. ]

Like how fucking long I've been doing my show.

I mean. You're...a senior, right? So. It can't be that long.

Would you believe me if I told you that I have been seventeen for two years now?

[ For a moment, Peregrine doesn’t say anything, just stares at the sky, laying on her back. It’s overcast, like the heavens might open up and pour rain all over them. ]

Wow. [ She lets out a low whistle. ] All we need is the thunder and the Muse and we’d find ourselves in the best scene of critically confusing darling of the late aughties Twilight.

[ The weed’s hitting. ]

[ That gets Janis to just start laughing. ]

Fuck, I knew I took you out to the baseball field for a reason.

[comeandfindme]

[ As Janis starts to laugh, Peregrine’s carefully concealed giggles slip from her mouth. ]

Do you think you…dazzle me, Janis?

[fourbutts]

[ Janis turns over onto her side, looking as sultry as possible, hand on her hip. ]

Well... do I?

[comeandfindme]

[ She turns her head just as she snorts, covering her mouth with her free hand. ]

[fourbutts]

I am going to take that as a yes, and hold my head up high about it.

[comeandfindme]

[ The laughter turns into a brief cough, and she sits up a little, supporting herself with her arms. The world spins a little, but it's a good kind of spinning. ]

What the hell... So does that make you like, eighteen now or something?

[fourbutts]

I guess? Seems like a reasonable conclusion, on account of math.
