Week Five

[Last week, you had your very first minor body pileup! Granted, the Balladeer's death was entirely unrelated to anything, but at least he died as he lived - getting completely fucked up in some kind of carnival-themed hellscape. Only two days later, another terrible accident took Rina and Varian both from you. It's just been one of those weeks, huh? At least you got to add both of their corpses to your weird growing collection!

Again, you'll wake up this morning with another new snippet of memory. You'll also find that the stairs in the lobby are no longer blocked. You can only access one part of the second floor, but it seems like there's some neat stuff up there!

Outside, a few things seem to have changed. For one, the weather has turned - it'll be overcast this week, with periodic rain and even scattered thunderstorms. For another, the bushes around that rock out by the football field have bloomed. That's nice.

Aww, that's so sweet, Per! [Is that a nickname for Peregrine? Is Peregrine her name? Oh god, she has to remember.]

Normally people call me ice-cold, or... [She concentrates] "Madame ice demon" with no personality, or something.

[ It seems like Per is a nickname! Peregrine grins at it, for a moment. ]

What? No! That's so wrong. Like...really wrong, you're just serious. You know— Jacob was always serious. You're just, you know, like Jacob.

[It's like a nickname! Nicknames are a thing, Cassandra's brain tells her. She's got one herself, after all.]

Oh, pfff. I'm way cooler than Jacob. And serious. You said serious.

...Do I know Jacob?

Wha— no, no, you don't know Jacob, he died before we met— he was really cool, though, so...

Ohhhh... [Understanding. Then, disappointment.] He must have been really cool. He knew you.

...He was the best. He was the best big brother.

That's what he'd always say. Whenever I needed...anything.

[Ah.] Sounds like he was a good brother to you. Helpful.

...I know... [she doesn't.] It's hard to lose family.
