Week Five

[Last week, you had your very first minor body pileup! Granted, the Balladeer's death was entirely unrelated to anything, but at least he died as he lived - getting completely fucked up in some kind of carnival-themed hellscape. Only two days later, another terrible accident took Rina and Varian both from you. It's just been one of those weeks, huh? At least you got to add both of their corpses to your weird growing collection!

Again, you'll wake up this morning with another new snippet of memory. You'll also find that the stairs in the lobby are no longer blocked. You can only access one part of the second floor, but it seems like there's some neat stuff up there!

Outside, a few things seem to have changed. For one, the weather has turned - it'll be overcast this week, with periodic rain and even scattered thunderstorms. For another, the bushes around that rock out by the football field have bloomed. That's nice.

[He makes a bolt for the door, keeping it open, and digs through his massive pile of concessions stand junk. It's at the bottom of the pile, it's so thin and narrow. He pulls out the lion mask, the pelt, a tuba. Eventually, he finds what he's looking for and pulls out a plastic ornate knife.]

[Her workout schedule means she isn't out of breath when she gets to the door, but there is no way she can actually keep up with Angus. She stops herself on the door frame before she crashes into anything in the room.]

What is it?

[mcfife]

[He stands up, careful not to touch any part of the knife except for the handle despite it not being sharp at all. It's plastic, after all.]

This. It's not the real knife, and I asked Hester about the original, but...this is meant to be the Knife of Evil.

[whatyouwant]

That doesn't sound good.

[Elle comes over, looking at the knife, then up to Angus.]

Does this have to do with your envelope?

[mcfife]

[He nods, and unfolds his photo.]

It's one of the three ancient artifacts left behind by the Starlords, but as its name sugfests, it does not good to a man. One of my allies was stabbed by this knife, and his brain was infected by its foul magic.

[The photo is now entirely visible - Evil Angus.] Zargothrax found this in the alternate universe and used it to turn all of the Knights of Crail against us. Hester says that the original lost its magic, but if this threat is meant to work, they might have been able to replicate it.

[a grimace] I know I shouldn't trust him, but if that knife is still out there, we are still in danger.

[Elle looks at the photo and frowns. The picture is clearly Angus, but also not. It's more than the outfit, it's the way he carries himself, the expression on his face. It's like some other person wearing Angus' face.]

Bullshit. I'm calling bullshit on the Wizard's threat. There's no way you can become that.

[mcfife]

It has to be. It has to.

[But his assassin in the Bad Future looked like Claudine and Spinel. Maya brought up the possibility that he can create chimeras of people. What if he can replicate the Knife of Evil?]

He'll have to hit me with it first. It's a deadly weapon, but it is small.

Well, he won't get the chance to! I won't let him. [Elle's not 100% sure how she would stop a dagger, but she'll work on that later.]
