Week Five

[Last week, you had your very first minor body pileup! Granted, the Balladeer's death was entirely unrelated to anything, but at least he died as he lived - getting completely fucked up in some kind of carnival-themed hellscape. Only two days later, another terrible accident took Rina and Varian both from you. It's just been one of those weeks, huh? At least you got to add both of their corpses to your weird growing collection!

Again, you'll wake up this morning with another new snippet of memory. You'll also find that the stairs in the lobby are no longer blocked. You can only access one part of the second floor, but it seems like there's some neat stuff up there!

Outside, a few things seem to have changed. For one, the weather has turned - it'll be overcast this week, with periodic rain and even scattered thunderstorms. For another, the bushes around that rock out by the football field have bloomed. That's nice.

[Farrah begins to relax immediately, relieved. She hadn’t even needed to call for him, and he had, like always, come for her. When she pulls away from the hug, eventually, she keeps a hand on his sleeve.]

Promise that you won’t forget me—
Someone has got to hold onto me.

[Salieri's brow furrows a bit at that in worry, but he lifts a hand to cup her cheek, looking at her seriously]

Farrah. I could never forget you. Do you understand me?

Never.

I know. I think. I do—- I know. [She tries to reassure him, still clinging to his sleeve.]

I’m just scared.

[violentenvies]

[Something in his chest clenches painfully at that, and he's just going to gently draw her back into his arms, holding her close as he sways gently while he starts to sing, quietly]

[The instant he begins to sing, Farrah begins to relax again, the frenzy that had begun in her heart calming back down. She wraps her arms back around him, allowing him to rock her back and forth, humming gently. And when he’s done…]

Yeah. Wizards full of shit.

Completely. [he agrees, pulling back a little with a small smile, and moving to press a kiss to the top of her head]

No need to listen to a thing that man says.

Thanks, dad. [She smiles fondly, using the space between them to pull the photo away from her chest, flipping it over to expose the photo of --

Well. It's a little hard to tell, at first. But after a few seconds of looking, it's a grave marker-- cracked, dirty, with grass growing over the stone. It looks like no one's been maintaining it. The last name's almost completely covered, but her first name's still there.

She holds the photo in her hands a few seconds-- then decisively rips it in half.]

[Farrah rips that photo in half, and something in Salieri's chest swells, his expression going soft and fond.]

I'm proud of you.

[brokeforgood]

[So I'll pour the bottle out

That hopeless loser girl that no one understands.

It's not true anymore. She smiles at him.]

Thanks. I was able to do it because of you. [Because he loves her. Because he won't forget her. Because... he understands her.]
