Week Three

[Last week, some shit went down! Salieri's scene went off without a hitch, but the good mood didn't last. The first motive was a bit of a doozy, and yet it didn't even have anything to do with the eventual accidental death of Mumble Happyfeet! At least Sissi was already pretty much dating Death anyway, right? She's probably fine, wherever she is.

This week, new menus have been posted in the cafeteria. But, more importantly, it seems that other new information has emerged. Everyone wakes on Sunday with some new memories - or are they old ones? - floating around in their heads. Maybe there was something to your discussions of time travel after all. Maybe there was someting to the Wizard's knowledge of the future.

Regardless, you're still stuck in here. At least there's some new places to explore this week. Maybe you'll find something helpful.]

I got that impression of Mademoiselle Hester also. At this point, she seems to be little more than a messenger, and far out of her depth. Additionally, she's rather young. She told me that she is not yet of drinking age, though I'm not entirely sure what age range that would entail.

Twenty. That is rather young. [a frown] Not younger than several here, obviously, but certainly younger than I first suspected.

Yeah, she's not that old really. We're about the same age.

Indeed. It furthers the thought that she might be just as trapped as we are.

I told Varian that, like. When you observe an experiment, interact with it the way Hester is, it changes the whole thing. So I definitely think she's as much of a victim as we are. Brainwashed somehow, maybe.

Brainwashed? [he's not entirely sure what that means] What does that entail exactly.

Like... she was convinced that this was something else or it wasn't real, you know? It would explain why she got so fucked up after the trial and all.

She said she didn't know how bad my photo was, too.

I believe her.

I...would've thought I would say the same. However... [he trails off a bit, looking slightly troubled]

...I went to see her that evening nearing the end of the gathering. Though during the trial she was clearly distressed and upset, when I visited her she seemed calm. Eerily so.

She still looked distressed in terms of her dress and make up, but she herself seemed unaffected.

One more thing to clarify...her voice had a dream-like quality to it, as though she'd just woken up from a nap.

Her position and age make it difficult to ignore that she is somehow a player in this game as well, simply with different rules.

She seems to care a lot about him. Or... did, at least, before everything that happened the other day. She has a lot of good things to say about him. [Oh. Is Farrah responding to something seriously?]

I don't want to share everything she said to me, but-- I think she knows what it's like, to feel lonely, for a long time. And The Wizard... cared?

...to add to that, something the Wizard said during the trial stood out to me.

He said that he is not the highest power in play here. That suggests to me that there is a strong possibility that there is someone controlling him as well.

[She sighs, muttering under her breath--]

But if Salieri told me to kill a bunch of people, I might kindof ask a few things.

But he...probably didn't tell her to kill anyone. Her job's just to take care of things around here.

If she's like me, she wouldn't have much choice, anyway. You can't just not be in a show.

Just because you're used to it doesn't mean it's okay.

I agree. I do not believe it absolves her from some of what she's done. [Namely the whole Peregrine thing.] But... it is worthwhile to consider.

Certainly not. There are still choices being made here. However, I do agree that keeping it in consideration is important, as we must do what we can to see the situation from as many angles as possible
