Week Three

[Last week, some shit went down! Salieri's scene went off without a hitch, but the good mood didn't last. The first motive was a bit of a doozy, and yet it didn't even have anything to do with the eventual accidental death of Mumble Happyfeet! At least Sissi was already pretty much dating Death anyway, right? She's probably fine, wherever she is.

This week, new menus have been posted in the cafeteria. But, more importantly, it seems that other new information has emerged. Everyone wakes on Sunday with some new memories - or are they old ones? - floating around in their heads. Maybe there was something to your discussions of time travel after all. Maybe there was someting to the Wizard's knowledge of the future.

Regardless, you're still stuck in here. At least there's some new places to explore this week. Maybe you'll find something helpful.]

[And immediately on his head they go, never to come off again probably. He tries them on for good measure, and it looks to be a perfect fit before he pushes them up to where they usually sit on the top of his head.

It's fascinating! I can't yet seem to figure out how it works...right now, I don't think it even can move. Nothing would be strong enough to pull it, that's for sure.

[Believe him, he tried to push it a little. No dice.]

Why is there a car in here, though? It's not like it can go anywhere, even if it could move...there's no room to even leave the garage.

Heh, it's no problem. I can't say I blame you now for being so surprised when we first woke up...

[She was probably, uh. Expecting to see a giraffe, not Varian and Salieri causing a ruckus.]

What other books are you reading?

[Even though Mrs. Frizzle is taking her kids inside of the human body, Varian doesn't seem at all put-off by the subject matter. If anything, he's even more curious...]

There's still a whole lot we don't know about how people work, back home. You think all of this information is accurate?

[He lives in a time period where things like x-rays don't exist. If you wanted to study somebody, you had to. Uh.

[Honestly, who can blame him? Sometimes you just have to be head empty in love for your newly-discovered child, okay. As for the plush, it seems like a perfect companion for Johanna, even if she can't actually have it in the moment.]

Oooh ho, now what do we have here...?

[The radio was not invented anywhere near to Varian's time period, but even then just the sight of the device has him immediately curious. He reaches out to take it in hand, turning it over and eyeing the screwed-shut hatch that would allow him to get inside and take a look. Even when trying to switch it on doesn't bear fruit, he doesn't seem too put-off.]

Honestly? I have no idea what it is either, but I'm going to find out. Maybe see if I can get it working again? Looks like it might play music, somehow...

[If he had to guess, framing it against the TV he saw in the library.]

Was the cat what you wanted for it?

[He doesn't know why yet, but hey you do you my man.]

Um... unfortunately these computers are pretty old and out of date, and they're not connected to the internet... probably so we can't call for help. But it does still have games!

...Do they have solitaire in Corona? It's just a single person card game.

[ That's sort of sad, maybe? Orpheus gives him a mildly concerned look. ]

Are you not in touch with the other ones as often? [ he asks, before turning his attention back to the mural. ] And this is Twilight, then? Who's Princess Celestia?

[Varian brings a han to his chin, nodding.]

Yeah, I've tried a couple things but it doesn't seem functional the way it is now. Do...you have a car at home?

That's exactly what it is, actually! See-

[Varian reaches up to hold the staff a little closer to the top so he can bring the vials closer into view, tapping them gently with his finger.]

It's because of the different compounds I put in here! Oxygen combines with calcium, adenosine triphosphate and luciferin in the presence of luciferase, which is a kind of a bioluminescent enzyme-

So, a chemical reaction between those elements makes them glow, basically!

Not so much, no. Not that I mind, they're really not my favorites anyway. [His friends come in two categories. Fluttershy and Not Fluttershy. Also known as inferior.] Oh, Celestia and I go way back. I terrorized the kingdom, she turned me to stone, oh, we're just a couple of old pals, really.

[ Orpheus glances at the door, looking anxious and unsure. He hadn't shared what was in his photograph, but... He guesses there's no real point in hiding things. ]

Winter. I dreamed about winter coming, much too early, in a year when spring had already come too late. [ He doesn't look at Elsa as he says this, staring down at his hands. ] I'd been trying to - stop that, to put the seasons right again. But I didn't do it fast enough. And there wasn't time to gather enough supplies to last through the season, so...

[ He trails off, hands shaking around the mug he's holding. ]

That's alright! Guess it'd be too much to hope for to have working internet because of that reason.

[Time to infiltrate a forum to beg for someone to come rescue them.]

We do, though! [Because card games were invented HELLA early in time and it makes sense they'd have them so I'm going to say yes.] I can play a mean game of poker; my dad taught me how.

[Farrah hums thoughtfully, trying to think of how to paint a portrait of Annleigh that is both endearing, and captures the exasperation that Farrah feels for her.]

Well. She's my step-sister. I was an only child for most of my life-- just like you. So, when our parents got together, I was really excited. Annleigh was... less excited, but I don't blame her. She just had one parent die, and having new people move into your house-- [She shrugs, resisting the urge to belittle herself in the explanation. She leaves "Especially a drunk loser girl" off the end.]

She's really nice, though. And pretty. She really cares about other people, and what happens with them. I don't think a lot of people see that part of her, 'cuz she's a bit of a religious freak, but I think she's like... genuinely afraid. It comes from a good place. She likes animals a lot, especially horses.

[She tilts her head.]

It's funny. Despite my familiarity with her, I know nothing of you.

[He looks over at Peregrine for approval.]

It isn't as if I spend an egregious amount of time watching American car-- [Ahh... She shakes her head.]

I am just not as familiar.
