Week Two

[Last week, no murder happened! Instead, a lot of students started work on Salieri's school play, which sounds pretty cool even though it's gonna be short, several people destroyed Bigfoot and got a few mysterious clues, and Orpheus started a fire in the kitchen! All in all, not a bad first week!

Though some people might have gone to talk to Hester, she hasn't made any more public announcements. There's some new papers posted up around the cafeteria, but it looks like it's just your upcoming lunch schedule. Seems like nothing's driving you towards Rule Five except, perhaps, all of the kidnapping and how criminally boring some of you are finding the school. Maybe the Balladeer is right, and you really can just wait this out? Only time will tell!]

[hello Angus and his new lizards. Salieri is pausing to observe for a moment, before he approaches, leaning in a little bit from the other side of the table to take a look]

That seems rather thorough.

I can't let them stave, can I?

[That is half a head of lettuce raining down on the lizards. Hallelujah.]

No, certainly not. I will be the first to admit that I know nothing of lizards, so I believe I shall have to trust your judgement at this. However, I was referring to the...ah, cage? That they are in.

[mcfife]

It's better than letting them loose. Perhaps Hester has a bit of a heart and wanted a comfortable room for them.

[There. May the lizards feast.]

It even has a heat lamp.

[a heat lamp??]

Ah...is that what this is? [he's going to reach out and touch said lamp clipped to the side]

[Angus gently pushes his hand away.]

Heat. It burns to the touch, like molten lava. [He's exaggerating.] The lizards need it to function.

[Salieri will absolutely snatch his hand back at that, looking at Angus with surprise and concern]

These lizards need molten heat to function? [that concern deepens as he glances back down at the lizards] I wonder if Varian knows....

[mcfife]

Fire lizards do. [They don't exist in Salieri's world but] But most simply require intense sunlight.

[He grips the insulated neck of the lamp to adjust it.]

It's like the sun - hotter than a thousand volcanoes, but manageable at a distance.

I see... [he is still very unsure of this technology] Then I shall have to be sure to keep my distance. Though at least the lizards enjoy it, I suppose.

[The lizards bask in the glorious UV rays. Praise be to Angus!]

As long as you handle it carefully, you shall be safe. [What's the worst a light bulb can do to you?]

I believe I shall leave such an endeavor to you. [he arches an eyebrow] You have handles such creatures before, then?

I have inherited the royal golden dragon steed. I should know a thing or two about lizards.

[Nod, nod.]

A dragon steed? [w h a t] Monsieur Angus, you have told me of many fantastical things, but...a dragon? Truly?

[mcfife]

Is that something that someone in your world has done?

[mcfife]

The evil wizard Zargothrax. [How he hates that man!] How many dragons we had to slay in order to protect the people of Fife!

That sounds like a tragic loss of so many of such a creature.

What is this wizard's true aim with such a thing?

[mcfife]

What else than to subdue the entire planet and allow him the resources and time to transform himself into a god? He has desired nothing less than absolute dominion over the universe.

[violentenvies]

What else indeed. [that certainly garners a frown] And it is you that stand in his way, then?

[mcfife]

I used to. Zargothrax is finally slain, and we have no more to fear from him.

Until this new Wizard has to come and decide to continue ruining things.

[violentenvies]

Do you think this Wizard has the same goals in mind?

[mcfife]

I wouldn't discount the possibility. We don't know what he's done before taking us away.

[violentenvies]

True enough. Though I do wonder what trapping us all here could do to further that...

[mcfife]

It could just be torture. It could be ransom. We may not even be the main project of his.

...Which would mean he has far more power elsewhere.

[violentenvies]

That is an incredibly unsettling idea, I must admit.
