Week Two

[Last week, no murder happened! Instead, a lot of students started work on Salieri's school play, which sounds pretty cool even though it's gonna be short, several people destroyed Bigfoot and got a few mysterious clues, and Orpheus started a fire in the kitchen! All in all, not a bad first week!

Though some people might have gone to talk to Hester, she hasn't made any more public announcements. There's some new papers posted up around the cafeteria, but it looks like it's just your upcoming lunch schedule. Seems like nothing's driving you towards Rule Five except, perhaps, all of the kidnapping and how criminally boring some of you are finding the school. Maybe the Balladeer is right, and you really can just wait this out? Only time will tell!]

Down to my waist would be good, if you please, monsieur. That was how long it was when I was young, and I was able to braid my hair alone with that length.

Just about... There, then.

[He moves his fingers just a smidge down, careful and polite not to touch her actual waist as he uses the mirror to judge (because by now he's close enough that to look at her would be looking down her blouse).

He waits for her confirmation, and then pulls all of her hair back over the back of the chair again, holding his place between his first two fingers, and takes up the scissors and begins to cut.]

Yes, perfect!

[She looks incredibly happy. This really will be a weight off of her shoulders!]

[barberic]

[The "snick-snick-snick" of the scissors steadily making their way across provides a music of its own, almost, but as he begins to grow familiar with the meditative action, he begins to hum idly to himself.]

Your hair is lovely, my lady. I've never seen hair so healthy and so long.

Thank you, monsieur! I-

Well, I can't say I remember exactly how I made it so, but I always have done my best to keep my hair clean.

You've certainly been successful.

[He's being meticulous, worrying less about the evenness of the first cut and more about keeping the severed length neat and tidy.]

Please- forgive me if this is too rude, but I would quite regret not asking. Since we're cutting so much off, today, it would be a shame for such lovely tresses to go to waste.

[If you catch his drift.]

Oh...?

[Give her a second.]

...Oh! Of course! Absolutely, I'm sure it will be put to good use, yes? And certainly I'm sure there's plenty to be used!

[barberic]

[He doesn't necessarily perk up - because that would imply that he wasn't in a merry mood before. But when she says that he can keep it, he gives her a grateful smile in the mirror.]

You're too kind, my lady. And yes, there is plenty.

[As he says that, he makes his way through the final strands, taking a brief pause to tie the tail of severed hair (about thirty inches or so, give or take) with a few strands of ribbon to keep it in a tidy bunch, before sinking back down to his knees with a comb and scissors to start the more detailed job.]
