Week Two

[Last week, no murder happened! Instead, a lot of students started work on Salieri's school play, which sounds pretty cool even though it's gonna be short, several people destroyed Bigfoot and got a few mysterious clues, and Orpheus started a fire in the kitchen! All in all, not a bad first week!

Though some people might have gone to talk to Hester, she hasn't made any more public announcements. There's some new papers posted up around the cafeteria, but it looks like it's just your upcoming lunch schedule. Seems like nothing's driving you towards Rule Five except, perhaps, all of the kidnapping and how criminally boring some of you are finding the school. Maybe the Balladeer is right, and you really can just wait this out? Only time will tell!]

If you cannot accept a decision based solely off of merit and talent -- subjective though they are -- then you do not belong in the arts.

See, yeah, totally agreed. The drama's kind of fun to hear about, though. Like a CW show, but for real and told to me second-hand over text messages by my best friend.

Oh, right! I saw that West Side Story, actually, and the girl who actually got Maria rocked it.

It's relieving, to say the least, that my Academy seems devoid of that drama.

In any case, her expression is brightening a little.]

That is good to hear though. I am glad someone with talent was able to play the part. How was the rest of the performance?

I don't know what they did to make it happen, but they all pulled it off. Which apparently is something they say about a lot of high school performances? Good on 'em.

I'll admit, it's strange to hear the amount of drama that goes into these... dramatic performances. Where I come from, it's simply part of the routine.

[Sometimes your instructor tells you to recreate an "Annie" expy from memory, just because.]

Where you come from sounds like it's probably nicer than where I come from.

True. And I imagine we already have a leg up when it comes to talent. We host auditions in order to even enter the school. We had a large crop of talent from the get-go.

Still... it almost sounds charming, the performances you describe.
