Week Two

[Last week, no murder happened! Instead, a lot of students started work on Salieri's school play, which sounds pretty cool even though it's gonna be short, several people destroyed Bigfoot and got a few mysterious clues, and Orpheus started a fire in the kitchen! All in all, not a bad first week!

Though some people might have gone to talk to Hester, she hasn't made any more public announcements. There's some new papers posted up around the cafeteria, but it looks like it's just your upcoming lunch schedule. Seems like nothing's driving you towards Rule Five except, perhaps, all of the kidnapping and how criminally boring some of you are finding the school. Maybe the Balladeer is right, and you really can just wait this out? Only time will tell!]

[Salieri's been moving around the school, definitely not avoiding looking at his own letter nope. He pauses when he notices someone in the costume shop--peeking in there out of curiosity]

It's customary where I come from. And I'm certain there is a phrase about old habits.

Might I ask what you are making?

Janis and I are making costumes based on some of our drawings.

[He moves some of the stuff on the table around before coming up with a drawing labeled "Amanda Komaeda." Imagine Komaeda's outfit but purple. Also there's an axe involved for some reason.]

[Salieri leans over a bit to observe what Connor has drawn, and makes a considering sound.]

That is a very interesting jacket. [he glances sideways at him, curious] Is this for yourself?

Yup. I don't usually work from scratch but it's not like there's much else to do here.

[Connor's really more of an upcycle or tailoring sewist. He modifies stuff that already exists, but it's not like he's never sewn before. The jacket he's currently making, though, is very "baby's first real garment."]

True enough. There is only so many times we can walk this floor before it becomes the same thing. [dry]

However, if you find yourself needing assistance, may I suggest asking Mademoiselles Elle or Elsa? They did most of the costume work for the performance, and they are rather exceptional. I'm sure they'd be happy to help you.

Yeah, I'll probably ask Elle if I run into any trouble but I'm enjoying fucking up? Or just, like. Being able to fail, I guess.

[He shrugs, not really seeming to understand what a totally wild thing that is to just say.]

I would say that failure can be a very effective teacher indeed.

Yeah. If Larry saw me doing things without being perfect at them, he'd lose his shit. Murphys can't be anything but perfect, ever.

[Salieri barely keeps a sneer from forming on his face, though there is a slight expression of distaste there]

I can understand wanting to be as good at something as possible if it is something one is passionate about, however it is impossible to improve without being poor at something, first.

[he huffs a bit] Forgive me, but whomever this Larry is perhaps should apply such a rule to himself.
