Week Two

[Last week, no murder happened! Instead, a lot of students started work on Salieri's school play, which sounds pretty cool even though it's gonna be short, several people destroyed Bigfoot and got a few mysterious clues, and Orpheus started a fire in the kitchen! All in all, not a bad first week!

Though some people might have gone to talk to Hester, she hasn't made any more public announcements. There's some new papers posted up around the cafeteria, but it looks like it's just your upcoming lunch schedule. Seems like nothing's driving you towards Rule Five except, perhaps, all of the kidnapping and how criminally boring some of you are finding the school. Maybe the Balladeer is right, and you really can just wait this out? Only time will tell!]

I fear you might snap my blade in half but... [She gives a nod.]

Very well then.

[mcfife]

[Angus takes a few minutes to pick up a 20-pound weight and return, swinging it around like it was nothing.]

We can practice dodging, you and I.

[mayavericks]

[Well there's... Probably nothing wrong with that. Reflex training, just like Connor said.

She takes a few steps away from Angus, before readying herself.]

[mcfife]

[Angus lifts the weight in one hand a few times, getting a feel for the shape, then lunges forth with an overhead strike to her arm.]

[mayavericks]

[Maya slips backward, more of a pirouette than an actual dodge. As she spins around, she moves to strike Angus's arm with her blade.]

[mcfife]

[Angus lifts his weight and twists, using the heavy end to deflect the blow.]

[mayavericks]

[The impact leads to an unpleasant reverberation up her arms, but she shrugs it off. She takes a few steps back, out of Angus's range, circling and watching his form carefully.]

[mcfife]

[Angus circles around Maya, watching her stance and determining where he can strike her easily. There! Her side. He lunges forth and swings the weight again.]

[mayavericks]

[Maya darts forward just as Angus does. She twists around, leaving her back to his chest as she thrusts the hilt of her blade back against his own side.]

[mcfife]

[Angus tilts the weight back, but being smaller than his Hammer, it does not have the handle's length to properly block her, and he can only lean back far enough that the hilt doesn't hit him too deep.]

[mayavericks]

[Thankfully, Maya isn't trying to injure him -- maybe just leave a little bruise. She steps out of his space after giving him a forceful little tap, smiling down at him even as she does.]

[mcfife]

[He rubs his side, no longer protected by armor, breathing heavily.]

Hah! I should practice with this new weapon some more.

[mayavericks]

I hope you will. I would certainly love to properly challenge the Prince of Fife, after all.

[mcfife]

Next week, I swear I will have my rematch!
