Week Two

[Last week, no murder happened! Instead, a lot of students started work on Salieri's school play, which sounds pretty cool even though it's gonna be short, several people destroyed Bigfoot and got a few mysterious clues, and Orpheus started a fire in the kitchen! All in all, not a bad first week!

Though some people might have gone to talk to Hester, she hasn't made any more public announcements. There's some new papers posted up around the cafeteria, but it looks like it's just your upcoming lunch schedule. Seems like nothing's driving you towards Rule Five except, perhaps, all of the kidnapping and how criminally boring some of you are finding the school. Maybe the Balladeer is right, and you really can just wait this out? Only time will tell!]

[Farrah's recovered enough to escape Dad's Salieri's watchful eye-- and she does feel slightly better. But the image still weighs heavily on her, and she's still Farrah, the girl with no tact. So when she sees the Balladeer sitting there, looking like she had not too long ago, she leans against the wall beside him, looking down at him.]

What's up? Did your envelope look like a bad slasher film inside, too?

Uh...

[He blinks up at her for a moment, processing that.]

Um...yeah, I guess. Is that...do those involve...

[He makes a sort of splattering gesture with his free hand. The photo's still clutched in the other one, though by now he's definitely crumpled it to the point that the image itself isn't really visible.]

Blood splatter? [She asks, her voice unphased, her expression probably not correct for this situation. She drops onto the floor beside, him, less than gracefully, and with a loud 'oomph']

Yeah. Tons.

[tellthestory]

Then yeah.

[The Balladeer sits in silence with her for a moment, before the rest of what she said finally processes.]

Wait, "too"?

[In potentially the greatest lack of tact she has ever shown, Farrah gives the Balladeer double finger guns.]

Twiiiiiiins!

[He just sort of gapes at her for a second.]

Oh, Farrah, no! What - ["What happened" is sort of a stupid question on a lot of levels] - wh - I'm sorry, that's...that's awful.

Yeah. Salieri took it. He says it's not real, but. [She shrugs.]

It was awful. Clark and I were both--- you know. And covered in blood. And the rest of the squad was there, but they were all only looking at him. [She's bitter. How can she not be? Her own sister didn't even look at her body.]

[tellthestory]

[Yeah, he can see where that would be hurtful.]

...maybe...they'd only just found him? I'm sure it wasn't because of...anything personal.

[brokeforgood]

That’s really, really nice of you to say. [She smiles, and gives his shoulder a little pat pat.]

But he’s nice and popular and everyone loves him. He’s charming and a gentleman. And I’m just a stupid loser girl, ruining Annleigh’s life. Of course she’d cry over him and not me.

[tellthestory]

You're just a kid. You can't possibly be ruining anyone's life. That's...it takes something big to do that. And you're not stupid.

[He leans to nudge her lightly, and ventures:]

Maybe you just don't have very good friends.

[brokeforgood]

They're not my friends. [The retort comes easily, even if she doesn't sound happy about it.]

Annleigh's my step-sister.

[tellthestory]

...well, that makes it worse.

[Annleigh sucks, what's her problem?]

I don't - I've never had a family, or anything like that. But she's supposed to be better to you than that. If she's not, that's her fault.

[brokeforgood]

I don't blame her. She had a good life-- then her mom died, her dad married someone new, and some loser moved in. And now that loser's at her school. And on her cheerteam. ... That's why it's probably better that I'm here.

[tellthestory]

None of that's your fault, though.

[But okay, maybe Annleigh isn't the worst.]

But...maybe it is better, if that's really...what would have happened.

[He's not sure if it's true? He's not really sure how certain he can be that it's safer here. But at least here, it's...maybe not scripted.]
