Week Two

[Last week, no murder happened! Instead, a lot of students started work on Salieri's school play, which sounds pretty cool even though it's gonna be short, several people destroyed Bigfoot and got a few mysterious clues, and Orpheus started a fire in the kitchen! All in all, not a bad first week!

Though some people might have gone to talk to Hester, she hasn't made any more public announcements. There's some new papers posted up around the cafeteria, but it looks like it's just your upcoming lunch schedule. Seems like nothing's driving you towards Rule Five except, perhaps, all of the kidnapping and how criminally boring some of you are finding the school. Maybe the Balladeer is right, and you really can just wait this out? Only time will tell!]

Well, that sure is a lot of nails for a sculpture.

[It's said more in jest than being actually critical, since Varian had already been in here and came by out of curiosity to see what Janis was working on.]

Mind if I ask what, exactly?

[fourbutts]

[ She spreads her arms and declares faux-dramatically: ]

Angst.

[ A beat, and she lowers her arms. ]

Or something like that.

...angst.

[Varian snorts, putting his hands on his hips.]

...can I help? Because that sounds like a lot of fun.

[And Varian has so much teen angst in him.]

For sure! Welcome to art club, remember to use the buddy system if you use a power tool. Which is to say I will help you, because school made me do a training class.

[Bless you Janis, this is exactly the kind of distraction he needed.]

Well then, teacher, what would you have me do?

[fourbutts]

[ gestures the teenage boy towards the power tools ]

[Varian is still getting used to power tools, which are honestly far more convenient than the things he's used to. The only thing this place is missing (I assume) is a welding machine.

For now though, he'll pick up a drill.]

Ooh, good choice. And pretty safe, so long as you watch where you're drilling.

[ She frowns a little. ]

And please watch where you're drilling. That thing will absolutely stigmata you and I have no idea where the first aid is here.

[And sure enough, that's a pair of gloves he pilfered from the costume shop at some point. Not anything like his trusty old pair but hey, you make do in an emergency.

Not that they'd help MUCH if he stabbed himself with a power drill, it'd just...give him more time to react, maybe.]

[ She also gets the Energy that he's not about to do something stupid. ]

[Varian leans over a little so he can get a better look at what she'd already started.]

Any particular direction you're going with this, or is it one of those "just go with your heart" projects?

Varian's just going to go ahead and start picking through a pile of spare parts nearby, reaching into his belt for a few screws.]

Must be pretty cathartic, huh?

For sure. Art's a great place to get your feelings out.

Of course, I'm also not really what you'd call a great "artist". Hopefully that doesn't matter?
