week 1
[With the introduction of their showrunner and a brief run through of what they're in for in their time in the Opera House out of the way, the performers are free to explore the first floor of the opera house at their leisure then and for the rest of the week that lies ahead. The double doors leading to the kitchen will be unlocked at 7 am and locked at 10 pm for intermission. Performers are free to prepare meals for themselves and others at any time outside of intermission.
The Merchandise Booth will also be open for business after the first day as some of the performers may find envelopes with their names on it taped to their doors in the morning.
If performers wish to have private conversations with their showrunner, The Balladeer, just step up to the box office and see if he's in.
Enjoy your week, everyone.]
[ooc: This is the last mod post for the week for us! Feel free to start depositing coins in the merch booth if any of your threads have reached that length, so long as they're not with the Balladeer. Remember, song threads mean double coins! There will be no murder this first week so gain all the CR you can while it lasts, darlings.]
Dining Hall
So when there's not too much traffic in the Dining Hall, Raoul approaches D-ne, rapping softly on the table to catch her attention.]
Miss D-ne? Might I have a word?
no subject
Raoul-san. Y-yes, of course. What...is it that I can help you with?
no subject
I inquired about my...injury, to the Balladeer. I thought you might want to know what he told me, because frankly I find it suspect.
no subject
Yes, of course- what...is it that he said?
no subject
He claims his management found us exactly how we awoke here - any injuries, any missing possessions, they were as is. [He glances to the corners of the walls, where he knows these weird camera boxes are watching.] I cannot bring myself to believe him.

I am going to have to think of reasons to visit him - or we shall, as a group, I suppose. He is surprisingly lax about his position - I thought, surely he would have some sort of protection if we were to meet with him, given how none of us are happy with our situation, but he has very little in his office and just...invites you in when you knock.

[So she says, thoughtfully, calculating.]
Actually-
[She flips over her clipboard - whatever's written on it is in Japanese, so she's not too worried about him seeing - and tears off the first page. She folds it and puts it in her pocket and then starts to write, covering it with her other hand as she does. ...Apparently this translates fine- oh murdergame rules.]
He or his employers must be watching us right now. We would do well to talk of things like this discretely.
I have spoken with Pirate King-san about our showrunner. According to him, the Balladeer is surprisingly affable, so it's possible you wouldn't have to enter on any false pretense other than company.
If he said anything that piqued your interest in your last visit, following up on that?
no subject
[Ah, what now? Raoul reads, nodding every couple of lines, and then holds a hand out.] Might I...?

[And he writes, in neat print that's a bit too used to being script, but print nonetheless:]
Agreed. We should be careful. But I am still confused as to how they can watch us from boxes.
And I suppose if it was his company I'd like to keep, then it might work.
The technologies of this place are still very mysterious to me. That could be a good reason.

I assume they have cameras. Do you know what they are, Raoul-san? They are devices that can be easily hidden and can watch many people at once.
Perhaps you can ask him about them. Not directly of course, but see if you can trip him up. Maybe he's the sort where if you get him talking, he'll tell you more than you mean to.
Be observant.

I suppose a better understanding of the mechanics would not be amiss, as well as any other sort of information, of course.
I do wish there was a way to record the things HE says as he says them, but I doubt he would not find taking notes to be suspicious.
no subject
We'll have to make due. Is your memory a good one? You'll have to make an attempt at least.
And I suppose I could try too, though I'm nowhere near as experienced with engaging in casual conversation. There are a few things I can question him about.
no subject
[The future stuff, he's talking about all the future stuff.]
What sort of things were you thinking of asking him?
no subject
[You are a champ, Raoul, a genuine champ.]
I was simply going to ask him about our comfort here. What he's willing to provide, what he's able to.
no subject
Oh, I see. Is there anything in particular you think we will be in need of?
no subject
Just a step up from basic care. Lotions if people have poor skin. Some...hygiene assistance for the young ladies here. [An embarrassed smile.] Those sorts of things.
no subject
[Thank goodness he doesn't actually know what hygiene assistance ladies tend to need.]
no subject
Yes, so...maybe together we can have some wonderful conversations with our captor, hm?
no subject
Yes, perhaps they will prove fruitful.
