This is a new and confusing experience for all of us, but I'm sure if we strive to stick together and cooperate, it'll help us foster the most productive environment that we can. [He concentrates and strains for a moment, and the beginnings of a bright pink shield flickers into being on his arm- for just a second before vanishing into a small puff of sparkling light.]

[Steven breathes heavy for a second.]

They haven't been working right since I got here.

[ WHOA. Riley's eyes visibly widen, and she's astounded! But then it disappears, and Stevn looks. Really tired. So she just puts her hands up. ]

Whoa, okay- just... Don't try that again, for right now, and...we will figure that out as we go. You can usually...do that for longer?

As long as I need to, usually.

[It also usually actually fully forms?? This is probably fine. It's FINE.]

I can make a big bubble around people too.

[He can absolutely do that too, but just the same way most people can.]

Not exactly this, but. Pretty much. The newer Gems like Peridot can't for some reason, but she figured out she's got- she calls them "metal powers"? So I'm pretty sure they can, but most of them don't know it.
