[ At noon on Wednesday, Riley's standing ready in the dining hall, with a clipboard and a big smile to anyone who shows up. She's set blank stacks of paper on the table, but we'll get to that. As promised, there's some basic snacks as well as some tasty banana bread. Snacks for everyone! ]

Welcome everyoooone~! Thank you so much for showing up. This is a new and confusing experience for all of us, but I'm sure if we strive to stick together and cooperate, it'll help us foster the most productive environment that we can. [ Bright, bright smile. ] So! I've gathered all of you so we can share any discoveries and compare basic information that might give us any idea of why we've been brought here. Good? Okaaaay!

[ That smile never leaves her face. She sets something down from her clipboard and starts passing out that blank paper. ]

Sooo, following my example, if you could fill this out, that...can be a good starting discussion!

[ Her example is essentially a survey. Wonderful penmanship, again. ]

The only time I was almost kidnapped was by my future husband. Nothing like this.

[ Riley tries to let out a sigh but this does not actually help. ]

A-and you still married him?!

[She brought muffins and jam! Or... muffins and welches grape jelly! That's helpful. Anne shrugs and gives a little sigh]

It wasn't much of a choice for either of us, I'm afraid. He found the gesture to be romantic. I found it to be confusing and foreign-- literally, since I did not speak the language. We were both very sour with the results. [Another sigh, this one much more dramatic, as she cheers herself again.]

That's besides the point-- I'm afraid this is as foreign as that. Not even I, a woman of great independence and value, educated and living many grand extravagancies and tales, have run into something like this. Perhaps this is a ransom? Or something more-- torturous?

Anne changes the subject and Riley lets her! ...That subject isn't any better, though. ]

Torturous like putting up rules that encourage us captives to kidnap each other, that kind of torturous?

I can't think of any other reason why someone would do something like this. They have to want something from us.
