[Six weeks later, and eleven performers remain.

The opera house is much the same when Monday morning dawns this week. It seems you've truly gone as high as you can go - there is no fifth floor, and no sign of any other new areas. The air has grown colder, like perhaps someone failed to adjust the heating for the winter weather that's supposedly happening just outside. Javert and Astarte's stars are still firmly affixed to their doors; it seems you might have to try a little harder to learn their secrets.

[That voice - so the others had ventured upstairs already? Good Lord, how many were up there? Where was everyone?

Raoul stops knocking to press his ear to the door, and raises his voice.] Natalie? Natalie, that is you, isn't it? Are you alright?!

[robitussin]

Yeah - yeah, it's me. Don't worry, I'm fine. Seymour and Jezebel are here with me, we're all fine.

[A sigh of relief. It feels good to be able to talk to someone else, to know that they're still alright.]

Are you okay? Who's there with you?

[dechagny]

[Let's pretend this happened after his bro Birdman showed up with his new magic talkie box.]

It seems that only Winslow and myself are here - unless someone else simply has not left their room. Do you think there is a way to find out who has been trapped on the floors above you?

[How many people does he have to worry about getting in trouble for falling asleep]

[robitussin]

I can go bang on the doors to the other set of stairs and see if anyone there can hear me and hope they've communicated with the fourth floor, I guess.

Is Winslow okay? Is his voice box thing working?

[dechagny]

Yes, it is working - it gave me a fright to hear it, but after such a long period of silence I am glad he can finally speak. And - if you manage to reach anyone on the other side, do knock on this door from time to time, and hopefully I'll be around to hear it.

[He's worried. He's very worried.]

[robitussin]

Yeah, of course. I'll keep you as updated as I can.

[A small pause.]

Raoul?

[dechagny]

Thank you, Natalie.

[Hm? Pause?]

Yes?

[robitussin]

[She has a really bad feeling about this week, and even if she's trying to stay positive... After everything that happened with Astarte, it's hard.]

...You're my friend and I won't talk about the toilet brush any more.

[It's still blurted out in a rush, though.]

oh my god go sit in the fUCKING CORNER

[dechagny]

[There's a pause. She can't see it, but Raoul's...smiling. A little amazed, a little flattered.]

You are my friend too, Natalie - and I'm glad to call you as such. And, truthfully, I don't...particularly mind if you goad me about the toilet brush.

[robitussin]

[She laughs, despite the circumstances.]

Okay, then the toilet brush stays, and that's final.

Um... Thanks for not making it weird.

There's not a thing weird about it - I'm just glad to hear it.

It's kind of weird? At least for me. I'm not really used to, um... This.

[Friendship is weird. Anyways.]

Are you going to be okay? Winslow doesn't seem hard to get along with or anything, but...

[dechagny]

Oh, we'll be fine. There's no need to worry about either of us.

[And he's not worried about Natalie, but...]

...You be sure to be okay, yourself.

If I have to, I will live on sheer spite until they open this fucking door. Assholes.

[A sigh.]

I don't think Seymour or Jezebel are dangerous at all, so. There's that.

[dechagny]

The danger lies with the management - not any of us.

[robitussin]

I mean, other than the whole... mole thing. That could end not well.

[dechagny]

True. But they could always be lying to make us turn against each other. While I wouldn't suggest lowering your guard, I would suggest that you give the others the benefit of the doubt, if you can.

[robitussin]

There's a difference between distrusting someone and turning on them. Just have to find the happy medium, or whatever.
