OVERTURE

You wake up, and realize you don’t remember how you got here.

This bed is soft and warm, but it’s certainly not yours. And the room is unfamiliar - unless perhaps you’re an actor, seeing as it looks almost exactly like every dressing room in the world. It's not quite large enough to fit the bed and trunk comfortably alongside the vanity, but it what it lacks in open space, it makes up for in coziness. This could be something you’ve seen in a movie, or dreamed about experiencing one day. But whatever the case, you aren’t supposed to be here.

There’s a silver key resting on your vanity, along with a thin program booklet. The cover - where the name of the show would usually be - is blank, but if you flip through it, you’ll find some startlingly familiar information. Maybe a few familiar faces as well…

The hallway outside is narrow and poorly-lit, lined with star-studded doors. But if you make your way past them and out into the lobby, you’ll find something entirely different: an elegant, refined opera house. Crystal chandeliers glitter overhead, and the red carpet is perfect for putting on a show. A large clock on the northern wall marks the time, though with the windows shuttered and locked it's difficult to tell whether it's morning or night. There’s also some framed information pinned up that you might find helpful. If you explore further into the adjoining wings, in fact, you'll see there's an identical copy in every room.

There’s also two sets of double-doors in the lobby: one leading back the way you came, deeper into the Opera House, and one leading out. For the moment, neither of them will open.

It looks like you’re stuck. But hey - at least you aren’t alone.
dechagny: (aint no viscount got time for that)

[Raoul makes to help the poor fellow up, but he's on his feet so quickly that he straightens up again, waving the apology off.] No need for apologies, it's quite alright.

[I mean, yeah, it's just an accident. 'S cool. Raoul blinks, surprised, when the other man pulls out his own pamphlet.]

Yes - yes, that is me, but I haven't the slightest clue as to what is happening. In fact, if you hadn't asked me first, I would have asked you the same.

[Seymour shrinks and looks even more apologetic. Sorry Raoul you'll be getting a lot of this.]

Sorry, I have no idea. I've never even been in a building like this before in my life. [If his gaping wasn't a sign of that.]

This... this is probably just a dream though. Does losing cause weird dreams?

[That last bit was obviously Seymour talking to himself.]
dechagny: (here to help)

[personal profile] dechagny 2016-10-10 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[Goodness, he's a sheepish sort, isn't he? Alright, well, if they're both clueless about what's going on, at the very least Raoul can be sensible. There's got to be an explanation, after all.]

If it is a dream, sir, it is an incredibly odd one, but I do believe I am awake, at the very least. [He looks around a little, eyes narrowed.] And I know this is not the opera house in which I was before. Tell me, have you seen anyone else yet, in this place? Anyone from the program?
dontfeedplants: (You know the book doesn't lie)

[personal profile] dontfeedplants 2016-10-10 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
If I had, I didn't notice them. [You can practically hear Seymour mentally scolding himself as he rubs the back of his head awkwardly.] Maybe we're still in New York somewhere? I've never been to the opera houses there so I wouldn't recognize them either way.

[Seymour just because you live in New York does not mean everything is in New York.]
dechagny: (is not a total douchebag)

[personal profile] dechagny 2016-10-10 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
That's alright. Perhaps they are in rooms of their own, back in that dim hallway. [Though, Raoul does pause at mention of a city he...knows? Hasn't been to, but knows.] Do you suppose we could be in America? I was under the impression that we must be in Paris.
dontfeedplants: (Default)

[personal profile] dontfeedplants 2016-10-10 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess it could be Paris. I've never been there so I don't really know what's there.

[There's the Eiffel Tower and that's the extent of Seymour's knowledge of the place.]

I just don't know why... anyone would take me to Paris for no reason.
dechagny: (here to help)

[personal profile] dechagny 2016-10-10 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
It could be anywhere, or even someplace we know very well, and yet we're stumped without any way to find a landmark of sorts.

[Which, if anything else, the Eiffel Tower would totally be.]

If our pamphlets are any indication, however, it seems that someone has taken a lot of people to this place for no apparent reason.
dontfeedplants: (Stick with that plant)

[personal profile] dontfeedplants 2016-10-10 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[Seymour nods and sadly flips through his booklet.]

I just don't know why they would want me. I'm a complete nobody.

Maybe they just want me to get to Audrey II, but I don't know why they couldn't have just stolen it.

[It's not like the plant is exactly well hidden.
dechagny: (will smugly concede)

[personal profile] dechagny 2016-10-11 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
[Audrey II? Weird, okay, but there's something definitely more pressing here - this poor fellow has absolutely no self-esteem, and it pains Raoul to see it.]

Perhaps, sir, you, are more important than you give yourself credit for.
dontfeedplants: (They say the meek gonna get it)

[personal profile] dontfeedplants 2016-10-11 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
How do you know? You've only just met me.

[His tone seems a lot more confused than anything.]
dechagny: (just got introduced through song)

[personal profile] dechagny 2016-10-11 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly! You might surprise me!

[Raoul's definitely looking on the bright side of this, isn't he]

Tell me sir, what is your name?
dontfeedplants: (Stick with that plant)

[personal profile] dontfeedplants 2016-10-11 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[Gives Raoul a look. You sure do have a lot of trust in a man you just met.]

It's Seymour.
dechagny: (ha ha i win)

[personal profile] dechagny 2016-10-11 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[Better that than suspicion around every corner towards everyone. Besides, you seem harmless.]

Ah! Well met, Seymour.
dontfeedplants: (I've got to let it)

[personal profile] dontfeedplants 2016-10-11 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[Seymour is 100% harmless just believe me.]

Nice to meet you too. [Is that what "well met" means?] But I really wish we hadn't met while we're locked in a building...

dechagny: (mild disgust)

[personal profile] dechagny 2016-10-12 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
[Yes it does! Good job, you get a gold star.]

I feel the same - this isn't exactly a pleasure trip by any means.
dontfeedplants: (My future's starting)

So I sure did accidentally delete this tag

[personal profile] dontfeedplants 2016-10-13 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
[Finally Seymour wins something.]

I guess it could be worse? Whenever I've seen kidnappings in movies they always seem a lot more... dangerous, than this.

[Like seriously, this living situation already seems better than Skid Row.]
dechagny: (Default)

it's alright :B

[personal profile] dechagny 2016-10-13 01:11 pm (UTC)(link)
There might be danger elsewhere - or perhaps there is an easy solution to...whatever has happened to us.
dontfeedplants: (Stick with that plant)

[personal profile] dontfeedplants 2016-10-15 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Hopefully, there's an easy solution to all this...

[There's definitely a hint of "but I doubt it" in his voice, though.]
dechagny: (just got introduced through song)

[personal profile] dechagny 2016-10-15 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
Hopefully, yes - and I'd bet all my hope that there is.

[Raoul honey no]
