WEEK 4
[Another week has passed in the opera house and things are looking grim as ever. With Gabe and Hime gone, the performers are down to 16 of them.

On Monday, the opera house is still heavily decorated with a few new additions. There are more cottony cobwebs, a few small ghosts hanging from the ceiling made of cheesecloth, even more pumpkins here and there. A few more candy bowls have been set out in places like the dining room and a few others and only a few of them are only filled with candy corn. In the dressing rooms the stars on Gabe and Hime's doors have fallen off, leaving behind a patch of star-shaped wood slightly lighter than the rest of the doors on Hime's and a different star underneath on Gabe's.

Like the previous week, the door on in the second floor lobby is unlocked and a new floor is ready to be explored. Have a good week, everyone.]

Ah, I see.

[ Killing time. Or. Well, that's the worst way to put it. ]

Do you... want to talk about it? Or anything? If you're just trying to pass the time?

[ I mean, everyone gets bored around here, he's not judging. ]

I don't think you want to. It's just all, like, sad when I say it. [She's so eloquent. She'll gladly ramble about something else, though ]

I was thinking of what people do for fun, when they're not busy having tons of friends. And I was like-- books! So I came here, and I realized, holy shit, reading sucks! There was a reason I always made nerds write my book reports for me.

Ah. I understand. You don't have to tell me.

[ I mean, talking about feelings is pretty gross? Hans can relate. He laughs. GEE IT MUST BE NICE HAVING FRIENDS... ]

Not a huge reader, huh? Maybe you could find some nonfiction, or something... They probably have language books in here, you could learn French or learn how to bake?

[ Not that Hans has done any of these but you know. ]

None of those really sound interesting. I guess I could try. I am actually in French at school, but I don't ever do the homework.

[ Wow, Heather. Wow. Hans won't judge but wow. Let's focus on the... not that. ]

You're learning French? It's a very beautiful language. You could probably practice with Javert or Raoul.

[The guys in French were cuter than the guys in Spanish.]

Maybe. Javert kind of scares me.

[ Ah, of course......... ]

He's very committed, I'll admit, but there's no need to be afraid of him. He just wants to do his job, I think.

Everyone here is so intense. I'm used to one or two people being like that- but an entire building?

Maybe that's why the Management pulled us here. Passionate people make for a better show, I suppose.

That makes sense. I always thought I was made for television. Just- maybe not like this.

[ "television" yeah ok ]

Yeah, and I never would've called myself a professional actor, but I can see how my own kind of acting could have gotten me here.

[ Lying. He means lying. ]

It's okay. I wouldn't judge you, even if you were a drama nerd.

Well... I'm not. But thank you?

[ He might be. A little. But shhh. ]

You're welcome. [Awkward. Manners. How do?]

...I don't know what it's like to have everyone hate you. But it must suck. And I just wanted to let you know, I don't hate you, even if you did all that awful stuff Anna said.

[ Well, that's unexpected. The sympathy, not the other parts. ]

That's... [ He pauses, trying to decide if he should be honest (gasp!) or just laugh it off. He'll settle for picking up a book and looking down at it instead. ]

I mean, not everyone hates me, but it is a pretty close thing, isn't it?

[ Yeah, this book is so interesting! It's probably completely unrelated to anything. ]

...Thank you. It does suck.

You're right, not everyone. [Yeah, she's not the most helpful thing ever.]

If everyone knew about the stuff I've done, I probably wouldn't have friends here, either.

Yeah, maybe like three people don't hate me at this point. Including the Balladeer.

[ Thanks, Heather. He won't even judge you, he'd have kept his secrets too if Anna hadn't been the type to blab. ]

You should hold onto that while you can. I don't blame you for not wanting to share. It's really not worth it.

Thanks. I want to. It's like, really refreshing to have people who like me. Not just my dads money, or my place on the cheer squad. [She even made friends with social rejects! She is such a saint.]

I can imagine.

[ How nice to be you, Heather. How nice... to have made friends... ]

I'm glad you've gotten some good out of this, honestly. It honestly hasn't been as awful as it could be.

Thanks, Hans. I feel better already! [She pauses, then goes back to the book shelf. French, huh?]

We'll all get out of here soon enough. Until then, I'll find something, or someone, to entertain me.

Yes, I'm sure they'll keep trying to keep us busy in the meantime. There's still plenty to explore.
