WEEK 4
[Another week has passed in the opera house and things are looking grim as ever. With Gabe and Hime gone, the performers are down to 16 of them.

On Monday, the opera house is still heavily decorated with a few new additions. There are more cottony cobwebs, a few small ghosts hanging from the ceiling made of cheesecloth, even more pumpkins here and there. A few more candy bowls have been set out in places like the dining room and a few others and only a few of them are only filled with candy corn. In the dressing rooms the stars on Gabe and Hime's doors have fallen off, leaving behind a patch of star-shaped wood slightly lighter than the rest of the doors on Hime's and a different star underneath on Gabe's.

Like the previous week, the door on in the second floor lobby is unlocked and a new floor is ready to be explored. Have a good week, everyone.]

Investigation/OTA

[dechagny]

[Today finds Raoul up early-ish with a head full of thoughts, so what better way to alleviate those thoughts than by investigating some more?

The first place he's going to check out is the Prop Room on the second floor. Despite the nefarious things that came out of it last week, he is still somewhat curious as to what else might be in there, and oh boy, where does he even begin to take a look around? Eventually he'll take some of the fake fencing swords for practice with The Pirate King, but for now he's just picking through weird stuff.

Later on, he'll be in the Media Room, attempting to investigate, but it's hard when there are so many weird future things to look at! He's never heard of any of these productions...are you supposed to watch them somehow? Somebody explain the future to him, please.

In the evening, Raoul can be found in the kitchen. You fools. You let him in here again. Do you know what he's trying to make now? Perfection Salad. This attempt is coming out pretty poorly because what is patience and allowing the gelatin to set, but even if it was alright, it's still a bunch of vegetables and flavorless Jell-o. Did he pick it because of the name? Good God, Raoul.

Run before he makes you try it. Seriously.]

Media Room Investigations!

[solomonjihad]

[Hey there! She's actually in here, watching a film!]

Mr. Raoul? Do you need help?

[dechagny]

[Oh, uh...give him a minute, he's...both mesmerized by the moving pictures on the screen and a little confused to see a bunch of unfamiliar, dark-skinned people on a screen. He knows people of color exist, but...uh...why are they made up so strangely?]

- Ah! Miss Astarte, forgive me, I...your...whatever it is on the screen is...unusual to me. I was simply attempting to investigate this room, but if I am disturbing you...

[Noooo don't let him go teach him about the movies]

[solomonjihad]

Oh, no, its ok! I'm just watching a movie, is all. You can keep looking, you're not bothering me...

[dechagny]

A...movie.

[...He may have to bother you, Astarte. Sorry in advance.]

What exactly is it?

[solomonjihad]

A movie.

[Wait.]

A film? You mean...what is a movie?

[dechagny]

[He nods.] Yes, what is it? And why are there only...

[He gestures towards the cast of The Wiz. He's not asking where the white people are, he's just confused. But feel free to call him out on it.]

[solomonjihad]

...I keep forgetting, you're from before all of that. That your year is--

[Wait]

What year are you from again?

[dechagny]

1880.

[solomonjihad]

...Movies...you know photographs? Movies basically work a little like photographs, but instead of the camera catching a single picture, it captures multiple frames to facilitate motion. And, the film also has technology which can catch sound with the motions.

[Pointing to the screen.]

[dechagny]

That is quite a lot of work for pictures.

[solomonjihad]

It's actually easy. Most film apparently comes in tapes and CDs nowadays so all you gave to do is press record if you're not professional.

[dechagny]

[...Yeah this is going right over his head. He's just gonna point to the screen.]

Would you...mind if I watched this "movie" with you?

[solomonjihad]

Of course.

[Nod nod. She motions to a seat.]

[dechagny]

[Aw yeah here comes Raoul to watch The Wiz and ask dumb questions.]

So, what are the rules for watching "movies"? We should be silent, yes?

[solomonjihad]

Well, you can be if you want. Usually you're supposed to be.

...! Ah, not that I...am telling you to be quiet. Its no big deal, you can always rewatch a movie.

[dechagny]

Well, I wouldn't want to ruin the experience. But...I suppose, as a forewarning, I will have many questions to ask, I'm certain.

[solomonjihad]

Its really ok. I'll do my best to answer your questions.

[dechagny]

Alright.

[There's about five minutes of quiet watching until...]

...So, why exactly are the men so heavily made up?

[solomonjihad]

They're meant to be certain characters, so they wear make up to reflect that. The silver person is the Tin Man, that one's the Scarecrow...

[dechagny]

Are they supposed to look somewhat...grotesque? Is that the kind of characters they portray?

[solomonjihad]

A little, yes, but they're ultimately good guys-

[Here comes the Cowardly Lion! Who tries to be scary and gets thwapped in the nose like a cat.]

-who lack something.

[dechagny]

I see! So...they lack a mirror?
