week 4

WEEK 4

[Another week has passed in the opera house and things are looking grim as ever. With Gabe and Hime gone, the performers are down to 16 of them.

On Monday, the opera house is still heavily decorated with a few new additions. There are more cottony cobwebs, a few small ghosts hanging from the ceiling made of cheesecloth, even more pumpkins here and there. A few more candy bowls have been set out in places like the dining room and a few others and only a few of them are only filled with candy corn. In the dressing rooms the stars on Gabe and Hime's doors have fallen off, leaving behind a patch of star-shaped wood slightly lighter than the rest of the doors on Hime's and a different star underneath on Gabe's.

Like the previous week, the door on in the second floor lobby is unlocked and a new floor is ready to be explored. Have a good week, everyone.]

[Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday]

allicareabout: (EHHH Δ it's not going to pay for itself)

And I'm going to assume that messing with Saint Peter isn't the greatest of ideas.

[...what the fuck is he even supposed to think of this conversation.]

He's been overworked since the dawn of human life, I think it's a pretty safe bet for that alone.
solomonjihad: (well I don't know...)

[personal profile] solomonjihad 2016-11-03 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
...I keep forgetting, you're from before all of that. That your year is--

[Wait]

What year are you from again?
allicareabout: (INFORM Δ look if jesus christ had $5000)

[personal profile] allicareabout 2016-11-03 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
Sure thing.

[We are going to handwave the hell out of this game as the conversation goes on, because I am a quality roleplayer and also I really suck at chess.]

The reason you gave for playing - that the same reason you're in here? Nothing better to do?
allicareabout: (ASSURE Δ huge reward or some shit)

[personal profile] allicareabout 2016-11-03 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds like Heaven needs better human resources management.

[...Needless to say, this man is very obviously no longer Catholic.]

How've you been holding up here, anyway? Other than the obvious, weekends are a little rough around this place.
allicareabout: (EHHH Δ it's not going to pay for itself)

[personal profile] allicareabout 2016-11-03 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
Not that I'm surprised by it, but there's not all that much by way of nonfiction around here. Unless you're really interested in medical texts or books about war, anyway.

It'd probably be giving too much away about this place. Not that I'm likely to recognize too much of it, nor would a good amount of the others.

[It's either going to be way the hell forwards or too far backwards, depending on which half of the group we're talking about, but either way the point stands and judging from the electronics around here...well, we're probably talking way the hell forwards.]
robitussin: (it's crystalline clear)

[personal profile] robitussin 2016-11-03 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
[Bless this handwaving, because I am also awful at chess. She is almost definitely going to lose in the end, but she does make an effort.]

...Pretty much, yeah. Lots of thinking, not much to do with it quite yet. Soon, though. And how about you?
allicareabout: (LEAN Δ they call it a royale with cheese)

[personal profile] allicareabout 2016-11-03 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
...About the same, actually.

[So much goddamn handwaved chess. To his credit, he'll try not to be a total asshole.]

What sort of thinking have you been doing?
robitussin: (i wonder how i take it)

[personal profile] robitussin 2016-11-03 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
About the Balladeer. About how to stop more people from murdering each other.

[A shrug.]

We should probably have another meeting together soon. Anyways... What's on your mind?
aflatouttahell: (08)

[personal profile] aflatouttahell 2016-11-03 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
I'm okay. I was looking into getting away from home for a while, but uh... this isn't what I had in mind! How about you?
allicareabout: (INFORM Δ look if jesus christ had $5000)

[personal profile] allicareabout 2016-11-03 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
It'd almost be pleasant if it weren't for the part where I feel like I've managed to drag my job with me - I specialize in homicide defense. I'm not too used to having to solve the crimes, that's the department's job, but the death and trial part is pretty par for the course.
allicareabout: (EHHH Δ it's not going to pay for itself)

[personal profile] allicareabout 2016-11-03 07:01 am (UTC)(link)
Another meeting's probably a good idea - and personally, I'm just hoping no one else goes down on Thursday night.
robitussin: (for just another day)

[personal profile] robitussin 2016-11-03 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I'll get one organized soon. [Natalie is certainly young, but she wouldn't describe herself as naive. When the motive had come out, she denounced it as well, but more because it felt like a downgrade than because she thought it wouldn't work. She feels like he might understand this point of view, too, so—] How likely do you think that is, though? I mean, money seems less tempting than wishes or whatever, but it isn't like nobody has killed for it before.
aflatouttahell: (12)

[personal profile] aflatouttahell 2016-11-03 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
Ah... I'm not really used to any of this. I was just locked up until I could be married off to the most important mass murderer to come around in a few centuries. For "political purposes."

[That last statement complete with air quotes. A sigh.]

Hell sucks, news at ten.

[To his credit, he'll mull it over before he replies; he's definitely got thoughts on it, she's right about that, but - ]

How tempting it is depends on the sort of person we're talking about - namely, whether they're the sort of person that likes money and doesn't believe in magic.

Wishes are nice, but a lot of people would probably be at least a bit skeptical of them. Money is concrete. Useful to a lot of people. Something people have experience with and a need for. It's better to bank on something like that than something you don't know is even possible.
allicareabout: (EHHH Δ it's not going to pay for itself)

[personal profile] allicareabout 2016-11-03 07:20 am (UTC)(link)
[...That's rough, buddy.]

Mass murderers have political clout down there?

[THAT'S...PROBABLY NOT THE POINT BEING MADE but damn if it's not what jumps out at him.]
aflatouttahell: (02)

[personal profile] aflatouttahell 2016-11-03 07:27 am (UTC)(link)
Oh no, The Boss is still alive. They're... a special case.

[HER MAIN PROBLEM WITH THIS MARRIAGE REMAINS THAT SHE DOESN'T LOVE THEM, LIKE.]

But I mean... there's some businessman who owns a bunch of real estate, I know that. And Blackbeard, out on the edges. People with natural leader stuff in them rise up out of the chaos, but the devils still run things? If that makes sense.
robitussin: (or if they just fake it)

[personal profile] robitussin 2016-11-03 07:32 am (UTC)(link)
Fair enough. Like, as an example... You and me. Not to generalize, but - no, I'm going to generalize, sorry. We're both probably too cynical to believe the whole wish thing, but you're a lawyer so you're probably loaded, and I'm going to Yale. So, we win this round as long as we don't die or whatever.

[that is absolutely how all of this works]

[Once he sees that he has his attention Winslow makes his way in, much like a cloak of darkness.

"I had some questions I feel you're best qualified to answer."]
allicareabout: (GENDO Δ get on the witness stand andy)

[personal profile] allicareabout 2016-11-03 08:02 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh, what's this now.]

And you know what, if I've got answers, I'll give them to you.

What've you got in mind?
dieformymusic: (Fucking dead now)

[personal profile] dieformymusic 2016-11-03 08:06 am (UTC)(link)
If is good enough for him!

Winslow scribbles on his paper again.

"How do you tell if a contract has any hidden terms? And if so is there any way you can get out of it? Like say it was a record deal?"]
allicareabout: (INFORM Δ look if jesus christ had $5000)

[personal profile] allicareabout 2016-11-03 08:10 am (UTC)(link)
[oh, good, common law - ]

Do you have a copy of the contract itself?

[It's kind of a long shot, but you never know, people pull some weird things out of the merch booth.]

...Movies...you know photographs? Movies basically work a little like photographs, but instead of the camera catching a single picture, it captures multiple frames to facilitate motion. And, the film also has technology which can catch sound with the motions.

[Pointing to the screen.]

I am not sure - is it some sort of new way to gamble? I am not a gambling man, but surely six sides are enough of a risk...
