WEEK 4
[Another week has passed in the opera house and things are looking grim as ever. With Gabe and Hime gone, the performers are down to 16 of them.

On Monday, the opera house is still heavily decorated with a few new additions. There are more cottony cobwebs, a few small ghosts hanging from the ceiling made of cheesecloth, even more pumpkins here and there. A few more candy bowls have been set out in places like the dining room and a few others and only a few of them are only filled with candy corn. In the dressing rooms the stars on Gabe and Hime's doors have fallen off, leaving behind a patch of star-shaped wood slightly lighter than the rest of the doors on Hime's and a different star underneath on Gabe's.

Like the previous week, the door on in the second floor lobby is unlocked and a new floor is ready to be explored. Have a good week, everyone.]

[Still, let's not damage it.

Raoul reads it a couple times to make sure he's got all the words right, brow furrowed.]

"Barr"...? What sort of name is that?

[It's all he says aloud, but there's a lot of other questions this thing raises. Who wrote this? Why were they here? Who was this message for, and why did they then proceed to stick it in a board game? And who was this Barr person who helped the writer? It's three mystery people all in one instant.

Raoul double checks the back of the paper to see if there's something else there, just in case he might've missed it.]

You interested in a game, or just staring at the chess board and thinking deep thoughts?

[She's inspecting a board game curiously as she asks the question, but glances towards him as she waits for a response.]

[After reading the note, she makes her way to Anna's room; the door is open, but she still raps on it lightly to get the other young woman's attention.]

Hey.

[dechagny]

[Too late. You're all doomed.]

Then perhaps I should have used the "cherry tomatoes" in the electric ice box? It seems to me that giving everyone a taste of tomato with their slice would be much more pleasant.

Man. You must be pretty picky.

[She says, as she watches Heather shove a book back into the shelf for about the third time.]

Never heard of it.

[...Granted, he kind of predates the novel by almost 40 years.]

Maybe I'll give it a look when you're done with it; there are a few legal drama things in here, but nothing that's caught my eye yet.

Hey, I welcome all challengers.

[And that's delivered easily enough; he really doesn't mind, from the sounds.]

Do you play a lot?

[A pause, as he's thinking.] Actually...there is something I found yesterday in that game room. I - I actually have it with me, hold on...

[He fishes into his suit jacket pocket to pull out the folded note, opening it and presenting it to The Pirate King to examine.] I wish I knew who the writer, recipient, or this mentioned "Barr" person might be, but so far I have not seen a single thing that would give me a clue as to their identities.

It's pretty famous where I'm from. Most schools make you read it at least once.

Not a fan of any other kind of books?

[On the back of the paper are printed instructions for a game called Settlers of Catan. There are a few notes scribbled in the margins, in pencil and in much neater and better-spelled handwriting than on the back.]

Play a lot? No, I'm not really the chess club type. It's not like there's much else to do around here.

[She's not the school club type at all, really. She does put down the board game and take a seat, though.]

[dechagny]

[Oh, uh...give him a minute, he's...both mesmerized by the moving pictures on the screen and a little confused to see a bunch of unfamiliar, dark-skinned people on a screen. He knows people of color exist, but...uh...why are they made up so strangely?]

- Ah! Miss Astarte, forgive me, I...your...whatever it is on the screen is...unusual to me. I was simply attempting to investigate this room, but if I am disturbing you...

[Noooo don't let him go teach him about the movies]

I... I don't know. I only wonder what Anna and... Hime were doing here if we are.

[dechagny]

[Well that's not helpful. Still, the other stuff is, so he'll be taking this note with him and discussing it with someone soon. Probably tomorrow, and definitely if the lot of them have a meeting.]

[Ah...it's Natalie. Raoul does his best not to flinch, fully expecting her to be barbed and angry and cold like at the trial. Really, she has every right, she's probably mourning, and he's expecting it. When that doesn't come, though, he takes a breath, determined to be calm and kind and courteous.

He's not proud of having to vote for her brother. He doesn't agree with her shutting herself out from the concern of others. But he will happily share his culinary experiments with everyone.]

The cookbooks have told me it is a "Frosted Ribbon Loaf". It looks and sounds sort of like a sandwich cake, so I decided it would be a fitting dish to make.

Oh, no, its ok! I'm just watching a movie, is all. You can keep looking, you're not bothering me...

[On Tuesday afternoon, Natalie can be found in the chapel. It might seem like she's praying from the fact that she's sitting in a pew, leaning slightly forward, but anyone who observes her for very long will notice that she's actually writing something down quickly. Occasionally, she looks up from her work, chewing thoughtfully on the pencil she's using.

Later on, she can be found in the kitchen, mixing together several ingredients in a bowl with perhaps more force than is necessary. She's lost in thought, and when she turns to grab something, she knocks a cup of flour over - some of the resulting cloud of flour settles on her clothing as she frowns, trying to brush it off.]

Dammit...

Sandwich cake... That's an interesting combination.

[She can act like everything is normal. She can do this.]

There are cookbooks here?

[He was more apologizing for the things he hasn't mentioned yet, but to be safe he likes to apologize for anything.]

Anywhere is fine. Just... just not the garden.

[Heather gives the book in her hands a final look- then shoves that back with the others, too.]

It's not my fault they all look boring.

[onthebusagain]

[Heather frowns at Hans briefly- but only long enough to toss another book aside. ]

No, thanks. I'm just looking for something to do.

[Are you calling him illiterate, Hans?

He looks over at Hans uncertainly. It's hard to tell whether it's because of that thing Anna posted or if he was just uneasy about everything.]

Not really, I'm just trying to figure out if there's any information about this place. Anything, really.

[dontfeedplants]

Still, it can't hurt to figure it out for ourselves, right?

[After a little tinkering, he manages to get the DVD slot to open.]

Oh!

[This was a lot easier than he thought it would be.]

[RIP everyone.]

That might work better.
