Week Six

[Last week, in It's Curtains, the weather changed, and with it your fortune in Dads. Discord took Salieri out - or perhaps Salieri took Discord out - and left the survivors with that much less impulse control. Nonetheless, a visit from a new friend might have provided a little bit of much-needed hope?

On Sunday morning, you'll find that the other side of the second floor has opened up - as well as the actual intended path to reach the roof garden. You can finally stop climbing up that rope every time you want to have a picnic or secret lover's rendezvous!

Outside, the weather seems to have calmed down. It's sunny again, with rather a lot of clouds. Though it's warm, the atmosphere seems very...still.]

Rooftop Garden

[After investigating the costume room, Spongebob spent most of his day on the garden cuddling Gary.

When he sees Orpheus, he gets the barest smile on his face and he sits down next to him.]

Hi Orpheus, finally checking out the garden?

[ Orpheus sits up when Spongebob comes over, smiling over at him. ]

Hi, Spongebob, hi - that's Gary, right?

[ He's seen the snail around before (and gods above, what a gigantic snail it is), but somehow he's never really talked to Spongebob about him. Better late than never, though, he guesses! ]

I couldn't really get up here very easily before. I'm not quite as good a climber as some of the rest of you. But it's really nice! I think I'll be spending a lot of time up here, when it's nice out.

[Gary meows a hello and inches a little closer to him.]

I could have helped carry you up you know. It's a really nice place to just hand out, after all! It helps remind me of the good things in . It's especially pretty at night too.

[ Actually that's fine, that's not the weirdest thing he's seen in the past few weeks. He shrugs off Spongebob's offer to carry him, not least because Spongebob is over a foot shorter than him and Orpheus has lifted him before. ]

I'm sure it is. I think I might spend the rest of the day out here, unless you and Gary wanted it for something. It's been a long time since I've seen this many flowers in one place.

[He falls silent, holding Gary a little bit closer.]

I would like some company actually. I can tell you about all the flowers here.

Oh? What do you know about them? [ he asks, settling into a more comfortable position. Briefly, the thought of why a sponge from under the ocean knows about flowers on land crosses his mind, but he shrugs it off. Plenty of humans study plants that live under water! It's probably like that. ]

A bit! Like I know this one is yellow and shaped kinda funny!

[He's... pointing to the daffodils.]

[ Orpheus blinks, then breaks into a delighted laugh. ]

They are! [ he agrees. ] Do you want to know what they're called?

Going to look at the sign that's next to them.]

Oh, they're called daffodils! That's a cute name for a flower.

That's right! I think they come from Europe, but they're all over America too.

[ He pauses, remembering that Spongebob is from... the ocean. How much does he know about land geography? ]

That's, um. Which ocean are you from? Europe is one of the continents that's next to the Atlantic, and America is next to the Atlantic and the Pacific both.

Oh, I'm from the Pacific! I know a little bit about America, since Sandy talks a lot about Texas, but all the other continents are a bit of a mystery to me.

Sandy's your - [ Orpheus pauses, trying to remember Spongebob's home movies. ] - squirrel friend? Is that where she's from? That's a pretty long way from the Pacific. Why was it you said she moved there, again?
