[It's Sunday night! Boy, today sure has been a day, hasn't it?? Memories returned, Father's Day Gifts given, and Benjamin sure had a Time, didn't he?

Looks like it's time to find ways to cope.

Thus, the bed frames from Broadhurst dorm are being worked on being taken apart by Varian while the mattresses are becoming The New Floor.

Additionally, there's plenty to eat and drink, what with the hot pot provided by Rina, cookies that might just taste a bit burnt from Farrah, apples from Orpheus, more delicious potatoes from Maya, as well as sandwiches by Cassandra. There is also quite the variety of pie, from caramel, to bittersweet chocolate and strawberries, and several other varieties from the vending machine. Finally, there's popcorn brought in by Spongebob. If someone wants a drink, there is some delicious hot cocoa, provided by Elsa, as well as the tea brought in by Discord. There's also a variety of drinks from the vending machines.

Everyone's invited of course. There are a variety of games happening, and there's even a TV that's been wheeled down from the Library. So bring your pajamas, whatever they happen to be, and settle in for a sleepover!]

Before I got here, I was not the type. I preferred to guide from a distance, if at all.

But... much has changed for all of us, hasn't it?

It...certainly has. Quite quickly, even. Sometimes I feel as though I can hardly keep up.

[At that, she smiles faintly.]

[Salieri's expression softens at that. He folds his arms and leans back against the wall, contemplating for a moment, before he answers]

[Maya listens to his words and... smiles, just a little. She can understand that. She's worn a mask most of her life, been the perfect performer that everyone wanted to see. She might not enjoy the situation, but at least she can value the company.

Quietly, she holds out her hands.]

It is easier to be at ease with family, I think.

[he'll take her hands, gently, squeezing]

It truly is. And a good family like this isn't always easy to find.

[She's both still and quiet for the span of a few heartbeats. Eventually, though, she squeezes his hands back.]

You are right about that much, I think.

[Salieri studies her a moment in that quiet]

...I have my moments. [he huffs out a small sigh] I don't know about you, but I'm personally finding that there is far more merit to be found in this family than any other that I have had before.

It feels wrong to call you family, you know. [She glances sidelong at him.] An insult to you, really. I do not mean to decry what my parents have given me -- my upbringing was a privileged one, and I will never deny that. But... There was little compassion in this life, either.

[Salieri's brow furrows at that]

...admittedly, I had perhaps guessed at that. [quietly] Family by birth isn't always...ideal. [haha ha understatement not just about Maya's family, but he's rolling with it]

Though you don't mean to decry what your parents gave you, it is...perhaps also worthwhile to examine their failures. One should always be compassionate towards children, after all.
