[Last week, Gershwin High School Academy University saw its very first intentional murder! What a milestone! And right after Spongebob's No Murder party, too - that doesn't seem like it bodes very well for anybody's future.

You all wake up this morning with yet another new memory returned to you. You'll also find that the school's external doors have now unlocked. Congratulations! You're free! Unfortunately, you also seem to be entirely in the middle of nowhere. So maybe it's more of a symbolic victory.

Still, you should look around and do some investigation! Maybe you'll find a fun surprise.]

Morning.

[Maya... doesn't actually want to get up right away. If Janis allows it, Maya will curl just a little tighter against her. She hasn't shared a bed, let alone a dorm room for some time (you know... other than this dorm room).]

Stay for awhile?

[fourbutts]

[ ... About corruption and betrayal-"
"And getting hit by a bus!"

Janis internally shakes it off, then smiles. ]

I got nowhere else to be.

[mayavericks]

I will not keep you too long, at least. [She says, even as she tucks her head over Janis's chest. World hard and cold, tiddy soft and warm.]

I would hate for you to neglect your care of Graham-san.

[fourbutts]

He can wait a while.

[ It's valid, Maya is valid. Janis has no objections. ]

[mayavericks]

Good.

[She's quiet for a bit. Long enough to seem as if she might have fallen asleep. But then --]

I had another dream. A memory.

[fourbutts]

Yeah?

[ She draws Maya a little closer. ]

Good memory dream or bad memory dream?

[mayavericks]

Well... I did descend from a ceiling on a swan, so you tell me.

[She laughs faintly.]

But it did remind me of something I should talk to you about.

[fourbutts]

[ Janis whistles. ]

Now that's an entrance.

[ She blinks. ]

Yeah? What's up?

[mayavericks]

It was quite the show. I wish I could have shared it with you.

[It's probably better this way. Janis wouldn't survive the performance, she's sure.]

Last week, I found a tablet that belonged to my friend and closest rival. Claudine Saijo, a child starlet and one of my favorite actresses growing up. It turned out that Saijo-san had been taking photos of my performance. I tried to tell Mur-- Connor that it was for studying purposes, that it meant nothing.

He knew I was wrong. And this memory proved that much.

[fourbutts]

[ Janis Sarkisian found dead of gay in the secret underground theater by local giraffe.

But that does get her expression to turn more serious. ]

So... she's into you. And are you...?

[mayavericks]

I was. Maybe I still am. But I was willing to give her up as part of the revues. Told her that her dream was not enough compared to mine, and that I would be the only one to stand at the top of the stage. And I believed that the only way to do that would be to cut away the bonds in my life.

... It all seems so embarrassing to consider, now.

[fourbutts]

Ah.

[ She's quiet for a moment. And then, unfortunately, because this touches on. Well, a nerve: ]

So this... isn't the part where you ditch me?

[mayavericks]

[At that, she sits up. She gives Janis a very firm look.]

No, it isn't. I'm not going anywhere, Janis.

[fourbutts]

Well.

[ When I was ten, in love again-

Her eyes are watering, slightly? ]

That's way better than what the last girl I liked half this much said.

[mayavericks]

[Oh. Oh that's unexpected. Maya reaches up, ready to catch any tears that fall.]

I didn't mean to upset you. I just wanted to be honest with you. We... keep regaining pieces of memory. I don't know what we might recall next. It simply... felt right to tell you, in the event that I did remember something more about Saijo-san.

But it does not change how I feel about you, Janis. It will not unless you want it to.

[fourbutts]

[ She shakes her head. ]

No, it's... you know. You have two hands, right? I'm cool with it.

[mayavericks]

I do. But... Don't forget that you held mine first.

That is to say... You are very important to me.

[fourbutts]

Right back atcha, Maya.

[ She nods. ]

Then... yeah. As long as we talk it through, I'm cool if she's important to you too.

[mayavericks]

Okay. That's... Good. Thank you.

[She closes her eyes again.]

Did you remember anything?

[fourbutts]

I... kind of? It's weird.

[ She frowns. ]

I think I'm gonna need to chew on it for a little while.

[mayavericks]

Whenever you're ready then, Janis.

[She leans up to place a kiss on her cheek.]

[fourbutts]

[ She nods. ]

Yeah. Nothing bad, though. I don't think.

[mayavericks]

Good. After the weekend we have all had, I think we need a reprieve.

[Hopefully everyone else gets great memories, and nothing bad happens!]

[fourbutts]

I know I'm down for one.

[ For sure! No one will be clinging to anyone later! There's not going to be any kind of extended period of Janis holding Maya real gentle. ]

And this one's already pretty good. For example, I've only almost cried once today, which is an improvement.

[mayavericks]

[It feels so wrong to laugh at, yet Maya does. It's a bittersweet sound, sardonic to the core, but a laugh nonetheless.]

It's probably not a good sign, that we're internalizing these sorts of things, is it?
