it's a party! time to mingle!

[ The mood may be shifting as the days go by, but Hans is still totally confident that everybody's still working together on the whole "not murdering" thing! Definitely. I mean, a guy can dream, right? In any case, this morning upon leaving your room you may find a folded note under your door. Unless you're a really early riser, then you're going to have to come back to get your invitation. Sorry, bro. ]
Dear [Your Name]((It really will say your name, he hand wrote these!))

I think we can all agree that this situation is far from ideal. It's fair to have doubts and expect the worse, but if we all stick to our morals I'm sure we can wait this out together. We can't let the Management think they can get us down with false promises and their crazy rules.

With that in mind, I hope you'll consider joining me in the Dining Room tonight for some refreshments, snacks, and a good chance for us all to spend some time together. There will be wine and champagne for those who wish to partake in it, as well as crackers and cheese and whatever I was able to find in the kitchen (I can't cook, but if anyone wants to bring anything, feel free!) If drinking and dining isn't your thing, maybe we can sit around and trade stories from home.

I look forward to seeing you there.

-- Prince Hans

(P.S. Set-up is at 5pm if anyone wants to help.)
[ Whether you're here early to help with set up or showing up fashionably late, the dining hall has been... well, not so much decorated really, but there's music coming from somewhere, maybe. Hans dragged the piano over from the music room and set it up in a corner, that should work. Plus if we all keep humming, music plays itself in the background, that's how it works, right?

The refreshments are laid out on a table with flutes of champagne and wine glasses, and beside it you'll find, besides champagne and fine wine, a pitcher of water, maybe some juice and soda from the kitchen. It's all self-serve, so have fun with that. There are also some snacks: crackers and sliced cheeses and what-have-you nearby, complete with napkins and forks to serve yourself.

Not a drinker or much of a partier? That's alright, you can just hang out! A stack of playing cards is laid out by one end of the dining table, looking perfectly inviting for anyone who wants to give that a try. And Hans did promise there'd be stories from home to pass the time, so perhaps find yourself a group of people willing to listen and tell the group about the real you!

...Or if you'd rather avoid the whole mess entirely, stick to the wall and hope no one sees you. That's not suspicious at all. I mean, the dining hall is big enough for twenty, right?

...But...they do make all sorts of things, including food. Didn't you look at the box?
dechagny: (just got introduced through song)

[personal profile] dechagny 2016-10-25 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course! But just because it was put into a box does not mean it was made in a factory.
solomonjihad: (...never mind)

[personal profile] solomonjihad 2016-10-25 04:05 pm (UTC)(link)
...They...do make food in factories in my time.

[Seriously its true!!]
dechagny: (aint no viscount got time for that)

[personal profile] dechagny 2016-10-25 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
[......brow furrowing.....]

Why would they do that?

[If he tells Astarte she's wrong again she'll get mad, let's not make people mad]
solomonjihad: (absolutely a normal human!)

[personal profile] solomonjihad 2016-10-25 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Because its easier?
dechagny: (cannot believe)

[personal profile] dechagny 2016-10-25 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
How is it easier?

[It's okay if you don't know]
solomonjihad: (well I don't know...)

[personal profile] solomonjihad 2016-10-25 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
...W-well, it can make the food quickly and in a large amount so more people can buy them. I think.

[She's never been in a factory she's not sure...]
dechagny: (mild disgust)

[personal profile] dechagny 2016-10-25 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
...Hm. And...it does taste fine. Not magnificent, but fine.

[He still thinks making these things by hand would be better for the quality.]

I suppose that does make some sense.

[personal profile] solomonjihad 2016-10-25 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Mass production, that's what its called. There's a lot of people on Earth in my time, so that's how more people get fed.
dechagny: (just got introduced through song)

[personal profile] dechagny 2016-10-25 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
That's rather clever, I will admit. Exactly how does all the food get distributed, then?
solomonjihad: (well I don't know...)

[personal profile] solomonjihad 2016-10-25 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, they use planes and trucks, and those go to supermarkets, and those get stocked so people can buy them. You can buy just about any kind of food there, especially in a big city, from anywhere in the world, even.

[Seriously, supermarkets are amazing.]
dechagny: (mild disgust)

[personal profile] dechagny 2016-10-25 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Anywhere in the world? But how does it all stay edible?
solomonjihad: (absolutely a normal human!)

[personal profile] solomonjihad 2016-10-25 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Refrigerators. Like in the kitchen.
dechagny: (cannot believe)

[personal profile] dechagny 2016-10-25 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
...There must be an awful lot of them in these super-markets and airplanes.
solomonjihad: (absolutely a normal human!)

[personal profile] solomonjihad 2016-10-25 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
There are. Rows of giant refrigerators.
dechagny: (aint no viscount got time for that)

[personal profile] dechagny 2016-10-25 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[He's not sure he can imagine all of that food. That's...a lot...]

There must be an incredible amount of people alive in the future...!
solomonjihad: (absolutely a normal human!)

[personal profile] solomonjihad 2016-10-26 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Mm. Over 6 billion people.

[personal profile] dechagny 2016-10-26 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
How do they all fit on the planet? There must be - houses atop houses atop houses!
solomonjihad: (absolutely a normal human!)

[personal profile] solomonjihad 2016-10-26 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
A little like that, at least in crowded cities. There are skyscrapers, dozens of stories high.
dechagny: (ffffffffuck)

[personal profile] dechagny 2016-10-26 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[Dozens...and just to house people? They must be packed inside like sardines! Raoul himself looks pretty shocked just by the idea.]

The future...truly is a terrifying place, then...
solomonjihad: (well I don't know...)

[personal profile] solomonjihad 2016-10-27 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
Its not so bad.

[Then again, she might be biased.]

It just sounds it. Quiet places still exist.
