fourth trial

[When the investigation finishes, the lights begin to flicker on and off as that low, gentle rumble echoes through the opera house. Again for those investigating the grounds the outdoor lights illuminating the still night flicker to get their attention.

Your intermission is ending. Please return to your trial room.

The court room looks just as it did before: the grand chandelier glittering above your heads, the dusty red velvet seats. In the orchestra pit your circle of wooden podiums are waiting. Angus, Riley and Shilo's podiums are draped in black crepe with their greyscale funerary portraits, just like your friends before them. The ghost light glows softly behind the podiums.

The curtain is closed, waiting to open when a decision has been reached and the execution can commence.

When everyone is in their places, the Phantom's voice echoes loud and clear through the theatre from his place in box 5. He still sounds distracted, just as he was for his other public appearance this week, like there are other things weighing on his mind.]

You must now determine who was responsible for the death of Shilo Wallace. Submit your vote on the podiums when you are certain of your choice.

[Gather your evidence and let's begin.]

Okay, but like. I still think that's. That's making a really weird assumption about how, uh. [He gestures vaguely.] How you even make wounds with that thing.

[personal profile] garbageface 2020-08-01 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, how would you make a wound with that thing?
justmeheere: (and there are voices in my head)

[personal profile] justmeheere 2020-08-01 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
It's bent. You'd have to swing it sideways to make. To hit someone's back? And it's so long, like. They would absolutely see you? Even from behind?
37773972: (and i don't think i'll escape)

[personal profile] 37773972 2020-08-01 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Not if you're occupied with a horse.
justmeheere: (well guess what!)

[personal profile] justmeheere 2020-08-01 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
No, but. That's why? Like horses. Horses freak out if you. You sneeze? They're big. Big anxious.

[It's very relateable.]
37773972: (stuck in my head for eternity)

[personal profile] 37773972 2020-08-01 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Wouldn't know, but I trust you. [He'll defer!]

Well, the killer also had a hammer, at one point. Maybe they knocked her out first, then stabbed her?
37773972: (in the entropy?)

[personal profile] 37773972 2020-08-01 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Did she have any other injuries?
holyspit: (hm)

[personal profile] holyspit 2020-08-01 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't get a good look at the body, but Anne didn't mention any others?
likemypicture: (release the bitches)

[personal profile] likemypicture 2020-08-01 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
No--- I checked. Nothing. I checked her hands to see if there was a struggle, or if she had fought back, but... nothing.
musacal: (19)

[personal profile] musacal 2020-08-01 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
It is a rather strange murder weapon, isn't it?

[ Hmmm... ]

Wait, there was an area in the barn cleaned right? Meaning the murder probably happened there, yes?
madgiganticfeelings: (frozen)

[personal profile] madgiganticfeelings 2020-08-01 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd assume that that would have been where the murder was... what with them cleaning up the blood.
musacal: (89)

[personal profile] musacal 2020-08-01 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmm...

The barn is multi-level, with hay on the upper level... and that thing looks like it could be useful for getting hay if you had a hard time getting some.

Is it possible... that it fell or was dropped on her?

And here I thought you were going to suggest that the killer encouraged the horse to press the fork into her back

.........................

...I'm not even sure how that would work, Mephy.

[ oh no when did she pick that nickname up ]

[Makes a face!!! He's going to have words for Christine about that nickname]

[personal profile] holyspit 2020-08-01 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[Stop besmirching the horse's good name, the horse is an innocent in all this probably.]

[Or it's somehow the mastermind.]

[One of those.]
holyspit: (not cool)

[personal profile] holyspit 2020-08-01 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh. Or- she fell on it?

[Or was pushed.]
musacal: (4)

[personal profile] musacal 2020-08-01 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh! That could also be possible!

In which case it might not just be the wounds that caused her death.

[personal profile] heathencall 2020-08-01 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
That. Seems far more accurate.

I don't know that a the weapon falling would be accurate enough to pierce her in such a way.

[A beat.]

... The other option is that the killer leapt from above to strike her? The could have been smaller and needed help in increasing the force of the attack?

justmeheere: (but feeling weird just makes me sad)

[personal profile] justmeheere 2020-08-01 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
No, that - just, like. Statistically there's not enough. You'd need force.
musacal: (89)

[personal profile] musacal 2020-08-01 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh... yeah that's a good point. I guess it wouldn't be high enough to create enough force...

[ listen she goes to a theatre school, you think they learn that stuff there ]

You are correct, yes.

[He has a horrible feeling he knows where this is going]
