WEEK 2
[From the day you arrived on the planet, and blinking, stepped into the sun. There's more to see than can ever be seen, and more to do than can ever be done. Yet, still, the whole thing seems...monotonous. Surely there must be some excitement, some showmanship, some sort of plot twist that could keep this show moving onward?

[ Hans sighs. ]

I spoke to the Balladeer when I asked for playing cards and champagne for us. He must have taken that to mean something it didn't.

[robitussin]

Oh, come on, you have to be fucking kidding me!

[an irritated noise, before she turns to everyone else.]

Please tell me none of you are going to be stupid enough to believe him.

Mostly the cabinets I can reach...

I've found soybeans if it comes to making my own.

Exactly! I've done nothing like that. All I did was make requests for simple conveniences, that's what his office is there for, isn't he?

[Not that Seymour completely distrusts Hans now, or is even entirely sure if he did actually said it, but they just had to wait for a month to get out. Gosh he didn't want to actually have to worry about people dying!]

That's like, what someone who said something would say.

What exactly did you say while you were talking to him?

[Raoul looks sincerely...unimpressed.]

A wish? Does this management think themselves some sort of - fanciful genie now? [He shakes his head, rolls his eyes slightly.] There is no way we can prove they could even make good on such a ludicrous claim. Do they really think we have faith enough in them to believe it?

I don't see why it matters. What sort of ridiculous promise would motivate anyone?

[Raoul is definitely still stuck on the "that's a stupid motive for a lot of reasons" train of thought.]

[ Hans could facepalm, this is so difficult! ]

The simple answer is I didn't. I have no idea why the Balladeer would say I did such a thing-- all I've done is speak to him to ask for things like playing cards and champagne.

[ Look, he's trying to make things better for everyone! ]

I try to do something nice, and this happens...

I asked for some champagne, since things were getting dour. And some playing cards. And I asked him about himself, but he doesn't seem to have a life outside the Opera house, so I suppose he fancies himself to be some kind of narrator.

[robitussin]

Did you bring up the motive thing when you were talking to anyone else? Since they can probably, you know, hear and see us all the time?

[trettende]

And what, am I not supposed to deny it?

[ That just makes no sense. ]

If I'm guilty for being accused and guilty for trying to deny the accusation, you may as well let the Balladeer run the show.

Exactly, no one here is interested in killing anyone, so this play at "incentives" is just their attempt to turn us against one another.

[trettende]

I mean, the most I've done is imply that none of us have any reason to commit murder. Maybe the management saw fit to issue a "challenge" since they seem to have such a flair for the dramatic.

[robitussin]

[HEAVY SIGH]

God dammit.

[trettende]

[ Gasp, cursing! Hans shakes his head, understanding. ]

[Hans aside, Winslow is putting out in big letters WISHES ARENT REAL.

Like come on Balladeer.]

Maybe next time we can be a little bit more careful with our words? Not that it matters anymore, I guess. Shit.

[trettende]

I'll have to be. I'm sorry, I didn't think... that they were watching us constantly like this. It's invasive.

[ Ugh. Creepy. ]

I had hoped it was an exaggeration. I was clearly wrong.

I still believe you. You're too nice to do anything like that. [after all, he helped her make some awful cookies!]

Should we really just trust that you had nothing to do with this man?

[ Hans chuckles. He has a feeling he and Peggy would have a lot in common. ] I'm the youngest among my brothers, I know what that's like.

That'd be lovely.

[ Hans steps around and sits down beside her, setting his gloved hands over the keys. ]

What shall we play?

The oldest "ghost story" from my school...is about the "Bookmark of Demise." Ten years ago, four students were brutally murdered. It was never solved, and the teachers rarely talk of it...but there's a rumor passed among the students. They died because they found a blank book and a cat bookmark - the Book and Bookmark of Demise.

They say you must never touch it, because tragedy will befall you if you do. ...But they also say it's the key to solving the mystery of how and why those four died.

[D-ne smiles!]

It's a rather horrifying story and I don't know much about it, but it's what my club is dedicated to finding.
