WEEK 2

[It's been...

One week since you woke up here
Met your house manager and said "We’re angry"
Five days since he laughed at you saying
"Write me some letters and you’ll never see me"
Three days since the mirror room
You realized there’s more the Opera House wouldn't tell you
Yesterday you'd bonded more
But it'll still be two days till you get your motive

Welcome to week 2, performers.
]

[Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday]

[ooc: happy week 2, everyone! Don't forget to submit your AC and your regains! Regain rolls are done Sunday and Tuesday nights.]
mcfife: smile (☀️heavenwards)

No, of course.

To enjoy someone's suffering...that is the definition of evil.

[He shudders at the thought of ever becoming The Phantom.]

Yes, that I can do. [It's simple. He prepared the pot and the faucet.] I have to ask Sigyn how to prepare all of this the next time we cook.
madgiganticfeelings: (understudy)

[personal profile] madgiganticfeelings 2020-07-20 01:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, the good news is that none of us are doing that.

[Even now, she doesn't know for sure that the Phantom is enjoying this... so she stays quiet about him.]

Sigyn knows how to cook? I should ask her for some pointers.
mcfife: excited (☀️weilding the hammer)

[personal profile] mcfife 2020-07-20 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
She's made breakfast a few times and I helped.

[He's so proud of himself!]

I could barely use a stove until I was a teenager. It's not something we royals are taught at a young age.
madgiganticfeelings: (call time)

[personal profile] madgiganticfeelings 2020-07-21 02:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh! That's a shame. When I was little, my nai nai taught me some of her favourite recipes, and after that, I was pretty much begging my dad to help me with learning how to cook.

If you ever want some extra pointers, I can help!
mcfife: heartfelt (☀️all that I've known here)

[personal profile] mcfife 2020-07-21 02:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I shall.

[And he rests his fist over his heart.]

So how long does one cook turnips?
madgiganticfeelings: (fourth wall)

[personal profile] madgiganticfeelings 2020-07-22 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I think they're pretty similar to potatoes, so if we cut them into chunks, they shouldn't take more than 15 minutes!
mcfife: AMAZEMENT (☀️I will soar)

[personal profile] mcfife 2020-07-22 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[And Angus learns a new cooking skill.]

I can cut them. [He immediately takes a turnip, washes it, and...just puts it on the counter.] Okay, so. I think you don't have to peel this.

[He is trying, though. With some work, he manages to chop off the top and cut it in quarters. Then it's just chopping it into very uneven pieces. It's obvious he's never had to do this before.]
madgiganticfeelings: (call time)

[personal profile] madgiganticfeelings 2020-07-23 02:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[Christine is cutting the potatoes, but she still glances over to see what Angus is doing, and tries to be encouraging.]

Yes! That's working! Be careful, don't cut yourself.
mcfife: heartfelt (☀️all that I've known here)

[personal profile] mcfife 2020-07-23 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[Thankfully he knows better than to nick himself with a blade. He moves onto the next turnip.]

Truly, cooking is a complex task. No matter what vegetable I take, there is something new to learn in cutting it.
madgiganticfeelings: (understudy)

[personal profile] madgiganticfeelings 2020-07-25 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
Not just cutting it, but cooking it, and what can go well together with it... it's kind of crazy, to imagine how some people figured this out first, huh?
mcfife: heartfelt (☀️all that I've known here)

[personal profile] mcfife 2020-07-25 12:55 pm (UTC)(link)
They were the brave ones, eating whatever they’re had found in the wilds.

[Another turnip has been messily cut up. He can get used to this.]
madgiganticfeelings: (understudy)

[personal profile] madgiganticfeelings 2020-07-27 02:27 pm (UTC)(link)
And here we are borrowing their tactics so we can look out for each other. I always thought it was like... a way to share knowledge, and love with people. It's like the feelings you had when you were making it were passed down to whoever ate it. So, if they felt brave and proud when they were eating their food, don't you think that bravery is passed down to us?
mcfife: nope (☀️and stars right before me)

[personal profile] mcfife 2020-07-27 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps?

[He doesn't know.]

I must say I hadn't thought about it this way before. [This should be enough turnips.] I never saw my mother cook anything she made for me.
madgiganticfeelings: (fourth wall)

[personal profile] madgiganticfeelings 2020-07-28 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? That's a shame. I always sat in the kitchen to do homework when my dad was cooking. And I usually helped my nai nai when she was doing the cooking. She taught me a lot.

Especially about how important it is to put love in anything you make.

[She smiles as she drops the turnips into the water, covering the pot to wait for it to boil.]
mcfife: (🦄 the land that I once called my home)

[personal profile] mcfife 2020-07-29 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
That sounds...crowded. The castle I lived in had plenty of big rooms for meetings with other royalty and politicians, plus rooms just to hang out with friends or everyday visitors. It meant I had a lot of hiding spaces but otherwise it was just empty.

[To be around people, he had to go outside. It was the only sure way to talk to someone.]

And if I was to study, it was without any distractions like dinner being prepared.
madgiganticfeelings: (understudy)

[personal profile] madgiganticfeelings 2020-07-30 01:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, that's where our lives are different. My parents are pretty well off, but we still just live in a regular two bedroom house. And my bedroom's kind of cluttered, so I usually do stuff where I need to keep on track where my parents can see me.

[A little snort.]

But you might be right about distractions. I spend a lot more time taste testing than doing algebra.
mcfife: heartfelt (☀️all that I've known here)

[personal profile] mcfife 2020-07-31 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
[ONLY TWO BEDROOMS.]

At least you can focus on acting if there is food around, right? [Because that's the most important part.] Imagine if someone got hungry in the middle of the stage!
madgiganticfeelings: (call time)

[personal profile] madgiganticfeelings 2020-07-31 02:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that would be awful! Stomach growling in the middle of a soliloquy...

[She giggles.]

Luckily, we have the auditorium at school if I really need to focus on acting. We have drama rehearsal three times a week, but I'm usually there on off days too.
mcfife: happy! (☀️far beyond the sky)

[personal profile] mcfife 2020-07-31 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Why not use a study room for your other work? It's difficult to be distracted if you have only one thing to focus on!

[And sometimes he doesn't need the extra help to be single minded.

Though the bubbling water does distract him from his thoughts as he shoots a hand out to turn odd the stove.]
madgiganticfeelings: (fourth wall)

[personal profile] madgiganticfeelings 2020-08-03 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose that would be a good idea... maybe I could just stay at the school a bit longer and use the library?

[But there's still a lot of distractions in there for her. Still, she appreciates Angus' help, with the food especially!]

Okay! Now if we drain these, we can mash them all up and add those spices, and we'll be all set!
mcfife: (🦄 now I must quest)

[personal profile] mcfife 2020-08-04 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
That works! Surely they can provide food while you work! [What institution does not feed its members? There’s always stuff for soldiers when they’re not on missions.]

Do you mash them with a fork? [He dumps in the chopped parsley and other herbs they put together.] Or with your hands?
madgiganticfeelings: (exeunt)

[personal profile] madgiganticfeelings 2020-08-04 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, there are at least vending machines around... [Welcome to the wonders of capitalism, Angus. But Christine doesn't have time to explain that, instead reaching out to stop Angus from just jamming his hands in their food.]

No, not our hands! A fork would work okay, but there's usually... [She digs in the drawers and then manages to pull out a little implement.] Aha! See, this is a masher! You can just press it down on whatever you want to crush, and the mash goes through these holes, see?
mcfife: heartfelt (☀️all that I've known here)

[personal profile] mcfife 2020-08-06 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
...I have never seen such a device before. [He crouches with his hands on his knees so that his face is lever with the masher.] Show me its wonders.
madgiganticfeelings: (call time)

[personal profile] madgiganticfeelings 2020-08-06 01:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[Christine raises an eyebrow, giggling with disbelief.]

It's not really anything special, but if you say so? [She starts mashing the vegetables together, slowly so Angus can see how it presses them down.]
mcfife: AMAZEMENT (☀️I will soar)

[personal profile] mcfife 2020-08-07 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
[An incredible tool for creating food fit for a prince! With such wondrous, glorious laser precision and ease does it transform raw ingredients into a meal! Such mysteries Angus McFife had not borne witness to in the castle!]

Take all the goods into the
Stainless
Silver
Turnip
Smasher!

With the force of art and theater
Flowing through her veins
Her steel will blow you away
Making epic meals everyday!

[Will you sing with him?]
