A joke? Christine, I don't think this is a joke, I think it's a threat. [ And she hasn't even seen what he did to Sigyn, ha... ] He's really serious about all of this.

But that's just what doesn't make sense about it! If he's serious, that'd mean he could do what he says, and I know my extended Phantom canon. There's no iteration where he's been able to erase someone from an entire universe! He's got to be tricking us!

[There's no point in even entertaining the idea that he might be serious... because that's too terrifying.]

[ Angry as she is, there is one thing she won't deny, and that's that Christine does know her stuff. So, throwing up her arms helplessly, Riley huffs. ]

Then, he's not who he says he is. Or at the very least, he wants us to believe this is something he can do, so we'll hurt each other.

I'm going with the latter. I don't think he actually has a power like that. It's all slight of hand and stage tricks, you know? So it's stupid to even take him seriously. Maybe I should make an announcement, so people don't think he can actually go through with it!

[Then they won't have to worry at all about someone getting killed. It's not going to happen. They're going to be safe, and someone is going to get them out of here.]

Christine... [ Somewhat in a long-suffering manner, Riley looks at her, like. Really looks at her. She really is trying, isn't she? That's more than she can say for herself. Frustration bubbles up, but she pushes it down. In the end, she just sounds tired. ] You can- try. Okay? ...With everyone worked up, I... I don't know how they'll take it, but- but...there's nothing wrong with trying.

You sound like my mom when you talk like that.

[She giggles softly and shakes her head.]

It's... It's going to be fine. Good things happen if you believe in yourself! And that's what I'm going to do!

[ For not the first time, Riley wonders just how Christine can keep at this. ]

You sure you're not a cheerleader? This is the kind of optimism my team would...well. Benefit from.

[ She was almost going to say kill for, but thought better of it. ]

Then I wish I could meet your team so I could give them a pep talk! Maybe once we bust out of here, I can come say hi.

[Because she's sure of it. They'll all get out of here, without anyone having to get hurt! She just has to wear down the Phantom's walls a bit.]

[ A surprised bark of a laugh escapes her lips. ]

Maybe you could get them to actually get along. [ A small, bitter seed slips into her tone, but it's gone a moment later. ] That...honestly sounds nice. I know none of them are going to believe why I completely disappeared, anyway.

Well, that's fine! I can help you come up with a better excuse, then. Or I can just help vouch for you! Whatever I can do, I'll make sure to help them out.

[She is nothing if not friendly!]
