No Backward Glances

Today is the day of the promised grand finale. And, strangely, nothing about the Opera seems especially different this morning. The theatre doors remain locked. There's no smell of blood in the air, no trashed rooms, and no dead bodies to find. In the lobbies, the crystal chandeliers are still in their places, not swung about by any mysterious force.

But there's little things. It may take a while to notice, but the lock on one of the doors in the second floor lobby - the one leading to Boxes 5 through 8 - is missing. Should anyone try it, it opens easily and without a sound.

Meanwhile, down on the first floor, the graffiti on the box office walls has once again been cleaned up. In the process, it seems, the box office door was left slightly ajar.

[They've got bright colors and loud patterns, and don't seem to match any decade Billy would recognize.]

[This bedroom is larger and nicer than the rest - look, it's got its own bathroom attached! There's only one bed, and along with the normal wardrobe it's also got a full-length mirror.

Next to the mirror is a dummy wearing a set of well-polished armor.]

[OH GOD IT'S A KING-SIZED BED

This bedroom is larger and nicer than the first two were, and has its own attached bath. As mentioned, there is a king-sized bed, with a pretty fancy-looking blue-and-gold bed set. There's a nightstand next to one side, a large wardrobe, and two hook-shaped mounts above the bed. They're empty, but it looks like there should be something there.]

[There's some tunics and pants, some long robes, and quite a lot of garishly colorful and sparkly little dresses. By little, we mean skimpy, not actual-child-sized. There also seems to be a jewelry box set on the upper shelf, and a decent selection of heels on the bottom sitting beside one pair of black boots.]

So we're talking pre-20th century (or at least very early 20th century). Got it.

Anything else of note in the wardrobe?]

[It hasn't got any dents in it. It's hard to tell, since you didn't actually see what Bad Santa was wearing underneath his robes, but this is pretty standard medieval-type armor. It doesn't look flexible.]

[There's only one drawer on the nightstand. It contains a small collection of daggers and throwing knives.]

[Gosh darn it. Hmmm... She'll knock on it to see what it's made out of. Steel, gold, any of that? And how medieval are we talking?]

[On top of the nightstand, there is a framed photo of a shirtless, muscular man posing. Sorry, Hans, he doesn't even look remotely like the Balladeer.
