don't stop believing
[It's a pleasant afternoon in the garden. Maybe not emotionally, but physically - isn't it nice when you get to have class outside?
As your voices rise, singing defiance in unison out for the Wizard, there's no immediate response; at least, nothing that clearly is a response. But there's something. Amidst the sound of your song, it may be hard to hear at first; Janis will likely be the first to notice, but eventually everyone is able to hear. It sounds as though other voices are rising along with yours.
There's something on the air - no music, or at least no instrumentals, just a disembodied sort of lyrical chant. You don't recognize any of the voices. They aren't singing the same song as you all are. Maybe they can't; they sound long long ago, and far far away now. Still - despite everything - the trees around you move lightly in a sudden soft breeze. It feels as though you have invoked something, old and entirely beyond your knowledge.
But first. Haven't you forgotten something?
It's Wednesday.
Welcome to this week's school club!]

Hey. You’re Farrah, right? I’m Claudine. The girl Riley literally murdered to bring you back.
…we talked, when she and I were on the other side. She loves you. She loves you enough that she wanted you to come back, and she wants you to be happy.
I’m not saying that you need to forgive her right now, or ever if that’s how you truly feel, but I think she would want you to know that.
no subject
She'd heard what Riley had done. At the time, it had angered her more. Not only had Riley killed her, but she'd had the gal to then try and undo it. But she hadn't really been thinking about the girl that she had killed, to try and bring her back. She'd mostly been doing what she does best, which is Farrah worrying about Farrah. And knowing that it was Maya's friend-- that somehow makes it worse.]
She doesn't love me. She hates me. She'd have me kicked off the team, if she could-- and then-- she-- [Farrah takes a steady breath. Closes her eyes. Counts to ten, and tries to not think about what happened that night in the shower
that killed Farrah. When she opens them--]Maya, I'm not sure why all of your friends are like, so obsessed with Riley, and I'm not gonna push it, but-- I don't want to hear you singing her praises anytime soon. You're my sister. [Just. Staking her claim. Then she glances back at Claudine.]
... I'm sorry she hurt you too.
no subject
No. She can't fathom forgiveness right now. But she also cannot simply ignore what Claudine has said. Even still, she considers the conversation she and Nana had previously. Moreover, she considers her own crimes, the people who she had harmed and who would never forgive her. How cold it had felt, awaiting condemnation.
She breathes out through her nose.]
I will not put her to the blade. [A beat.] But I would never dream of hurting you in that way, either. You re family. It will take more to forgive her than this.
[A nod to Claudine.]
My apologies.

[Claudine stops mid-thought, her eyes clouding over for a moment. In her head, she’s back in the Opera House, practicing late into the night. She’s at Position Zero, and then there’s the sudden sharp pain.
Here in the real world, she puts her right hand on her stomach, pulling it back and she swears she sees blood —]
I’m so sorry. I wasn’t here for a second. I’m also sorry to bring up our shared trauma. I just…I needed to say it.
You should meet - not the blue Spinel, that one’s awful and you absolutely do not want to meet him - but the pink Spinel. She’s very sweet, if a little odd, and she’s also part of our little club. We can talk when and if you are ready. Real talk. And if you need to talk, I will be here to listen.
Thank you for being there for my Maya.

Thankfully, she doesn’t have time to dwell on that too long. Because then Claudine’s bringing up someone else—]
How many people did Riley straight up murder? Right, for Clark, I guess.
Don’t thank me too much. I kept her on her toes. Bickered with her every single trial. I even got her to say a swear word.

[Claudine takes a deep breath, steadying herself. For a brief second, she thinks about adding the details that she knows, but it’s not necessary. What was done was done, and the rest of it doesn’t matter now.
She’s glad for the change of subject.]
Sounds about right for the trials. It wouldn’t be one without at least one attempt to derail it. Usually more than one.
[She chuckles.]
Is that right, now? I wish I had been around to hear you get my girlfriend to curse.
…to be fair, I think she’d say the same thing about hearing me drop an f-bomb for the first time.
no subject
Less derailing more like--- screaming at her to leave my family alone. And continuously finding out she was right in the first place. It was kindof really fucking annoying? I don't know how you put up with her. Or how any of them do. [Farrah they're all RIGHT THERE can you be nice? ... Oh well. The others all know she can't.]
...But I'm still glad I got to know her. Or... anyone. I'm really glad I had a second chance. I didn't know I wanted one. Even when-- [She falls quiet.]
no subject
That means Maya was being herself. She’s just like that. It’s part of her charm, the exasperating girl.
[said with an affectionate smile. but then Farrah says that, and if she’ll let her, Claudine will give her a hug.]
I’m so, so glad you got that second chance. I get the feeling you’re going to do great.

[ Like. Nana likes her? She doesn't know Nana super well, but she's pretty sure Nana wouldn't cover for a murderer? ]
Guess that's character development for you.

[ She's working very hard on figuring out how to talk to everyone but also it's been a fucking day. ]
Rest assured, I will not personally be throwing hands at Riley. I am of the opinion that this Murder Game shit is enough punishment for anyone.
