Week 7

[Last week, on It's Curtains...boy, that sure was a year-long week, huh?

But despite it all, you've gotten through it with less death than there might have been. Spongebob and Farrah both survived their ill-conceived plan; Maya, with the intervention of Janis and Hester, survived her triple murder. Since the failed execution, there has been no sign of the Wizard or of Hester. It seems like you may have gotten away with that cleanly!

When you wake up on Sunday, you remember everything. All the gaps, the missing pieces, entire chunks of time from back home - they're back and neatly fitted where they should be in your heads. Elle, Orpheus, and Eurydice have also been given graves alongside the others in the garden. These ones were filled in for you; after all, you were all pretty occupied over the weekend.

Other than that...it seems like some unusual posters have been put up around the school. Sounds like something's going to happen this week. You'd better prepare.]

Yes, I think he sang that. [He's more familiar with Delilah.] We got a lot of those in the opera house, what's he doing here now?

I just know the two songs from the John Mulaney bit.

[ she looks at him. ]

[He shakes his head.]

I guess I have more for my castle-- isn't that Anne's meal? [Looking at the cooked pheasant.]

You're going to have to be more specific, there are a lot of Annes.

[mcfife]

Anne of Cleves. She loves pheasant, she even got some from The Phantom's vending...machine...

[....mmm.....]

[ oh, well that's something, isn't it? ]

Huh. Do a lot of things come out of this that came out there?

[mcfife]

There are. I would think that it's because The Wizard was behind all of this, but I haven't seen anything belonging to my friends there before.

[Looks at his massive bag of coins.]

Does this mean they are coming for us?

[fourbutts]

I hope so. It... definitely feels like something is coming. Or... changing, or something.

[mcfife]

The time will come to rise.

[Could it really be the end? Has the SQUIP been able to reach out to their friends? He can't tell, but as he puts in his first batch of coins, he hopes that there are more signs that they aren't alone anymore. The first batch of regains are mostly interesting. Goggles and jackets and scarves are useful. There's drinks and snacks, but nothing interesting until the tumbler falls out.]

This is Sigyn's. [His first friend there, the first killer. The one who helped him return to his old self. The woman who believed in him.] This cannot be a coincidence, we may-

[And then an actual engagement ring falls out.]

[ To both, apparently: ]

Oh shit.

[You know what's the worst thing about their dead friends? The hope that they can come back. He can't accept that the future is one without them when the dead have been revived before. If he could believe that Elle was gone forever, he could move one quickly.

But there's that chance. That painful possibility that it might not be the end. That idea that he can keep waiting and waiting and something good will happen, though it's far more likely that their hopes will be crushed in the end.

That ring was supposed to be for Elle. She can't accept it, but what if...]

[He picks it up gently and rolls it between his thumb and forefinger.]

[ Janis bites her lip. She's not... sure how much he wants to hear from Maya's Girlfriend, Who Saved Maya's Life, but. ]

... there's got to be a way to get them back. And if there is, we find it once we beat the Wizard.

[mcfife]

[Janis is alright. She's brave. She loves her friends. She has narrator magic. But she's also not heartbroken. It's selfish, he thinks, to be upset that she has her girlfriend while he lost his, but it stings whenever he sees Maya.

Like Varian, he wants to run around in a daze in the courtyard, not knowing where to go with Elle dead. What is he supposed to do now?]

Could you do it with your powers? [Let's pocket that ring. He doesn't want to imagine it on Elle's finger.] Is fate something a narrator can reverse?

[fourbutts]

[ She frowns, thinking. ]

I mean... if I could take over the show from the Wizard, maybe? Especially if I can pull in Damian somehow, he knows more about the whole narrator thing than I do. ... Once he's done freaking out over everyone he recognizes, I assume. And I mean if I can't, then... there's a lot of narrators out there. With enough of us, I bet we could, you know. Deus ex machina the hell out of this whole situation.
