itscurtains | Week 7

[Last week, on It's Curtains...boy, that sure was a year-long week, huh?

But despite it all, you've gotten through it with less death than there might have been. Spongebob and Farrah both survived their ill-conceived plan; Maya, with the intervention of Janis and Hester, survived her triple murder. Since the failed execution, there has been no sign of the Wizard or of Hester. It seems like you may have gotten away with that cleanly!

When you wake up on Sunday, you remember everything. All the gaps, the missing pieces, entire chunks of time from back home - they're back and neatly fitted where they should be in your heads. Elle, Orpheus, and Eurydice have also been given graves alongside the others in the garden. These ones were filled in for you; after all, you were all pretty occupied over the weekend.

Other than that...it seems like some unusual posters have been put up around the school. Sounds like something's going to happen this week. You'd better prepare.]

(( As per usual, endgame will ICly take place on Wednesday, so get those last threads in! As this is the last week, all characters should be at their true canonpoint memory-wise. Feel free to continue submitting regains and...well, you can certainly try to visit Hester. No AC this week, but be sure to check in for endgame! ))

[It doesn't take long to find Elsa - she's set up in the cafeteria, a small stack of red paper set beside her. She's fiddling with the paper, sheet by sheet, folding them over and over until she sets a small, finished flower in front of her. They're a mix of roses and lilies, but all in similar shades of red.

She doesn't notice Cass entering the room at first, so concentrated on her work that she is.]

[Well, guess who's sneaking up on Elsa - not really, but she's always been rather silent, even when she wants to be. As Elsa fiddles with her paper sheets, Cassandra's arms come down around her shoulders, looping into a loose hug.

Above her, Cass smiles. When she speaks, it's not the same. This woman sounds better than she has in weeks.]

Hey.

[The one downside to being so sneaky is that your girlfriend, as seriously as she takes her new training lessons, has no idea there's anyone in the room until it's too late. So, when Elsa feels two arms around her, she yelps, a small, quick flurry of snowflakes bursting around them. But - it's okay! Totally okay! She knows these arms; she's felt them around her most nights for the past few weeks.]

Cass! You scared me!

[She tries to sound scolding, but... yeah, she really can't hide her laughter.]

Where'd this come from?

[Cass is briefly stunned by the blast of snowflakes in her face - one even slips up her nose, generating a quick sneeze... But it's fine! Soon enough, Cassandra's laugh is ringing in Elsa's ears; not as light as hers, closer to a snicker too, but nonetheless elated.]

I remember it, Elsa. [Her voice cracks partway through 'it'.] All of it. What I did to Rapunzel, how I tried to make up for it, Rapunzel - she saves me.

Everything works out.

[Elsa's face lights up in a reflection of Cass's own happiness. She spins in her girlfriend's grip, reaching up to cup her face with both hands as a smile nearly splits her face.]

Cass. Oh, Cass... I'm so happy for you. [To the point where there are tears in her eyes, even. Elsa doesn't even try and blink them away.] I knew you'd get what you truly deserve in the end.

[For a moment she just. Takes in Cass's expression. The shine in her eyes, void of the shadow of trauma for the first time in weeks. Cass almost seems like an entirely different person now.]

So... have you finally found peace?

[Elsa's hands frame the picture of happiness - of freedom. It's enough to almost bring Cassandra to tears; yes, the familiar sparkle in the corner of her eyes as they caught the light was there.]

I didn't believe it, but...!

[She laughs wetly. With Elsa here, in her arms, she could just... pick her up and spin the former queen around. From all those mornings, nestled in Elsa's arms, heavy and worried. This is like a great weight had finally come off her shoulders.]

Elsa... I was an island, till you came along.
Put your boat in my sand, hand in my hand, your heart in my song.
I was a fighter, and I was so brave.
But I lowered my sword when you held me and swore you'd stay, stay, stay!

[Elsa lets out another yelp as she's lifted off her feet - a sound which quickly melts into bright, joyous laughter as Cass sings out her happiness.]

Amazing! That's... [Held up in Cass's arms like this, she now has a few inches on the other woman. That means that Elsa has to lean down, till their faces are just a few scant inches apart, and she presses her forehead to Cass's.]

I'll stay for as long as you'll have me. I... I want you to stay.

Well... [Holding Elsa up like this, almost seated in her arms, the other woman felt almost weightless. But she could have been Cassandra's world at this point. Cass briefly shuts her eyes as their foreheads meet, just to enjoy the moment. She didn't want it to end. This happiness.]

Good. Because I want you to stay.

[Cassandra's eyes open. They almost seem to shimmer. There's a pounding in her chest, in her ears. A heartbeat emboldening her.

Tilting her head back, Cassandra shifts their embrace just enough that she can press her lips to Elsa's.]
