fifth investigation
[Oh, what a night.
Why'd it take so long to see the light,
Seemed so wrong, but now it seems so right.
What a time, what a night.
What a night last night was! Dancing under the stars, romance, family...all the things a good school dance should stand for. Even with everyone being sick it could still, overall, be considered a hige success.
But on the subject of the sickness thats spread through the school...when people start to rouse from their dance-fuled exhaustion in the morning all the symptoms seem to be completely gone. Which should be good news but knowing what day it is.
Maybe you should leave your dorms and investigate.]

I would say I was in heaven but... [She blinks. Oh no.] Where's Janis?
no subject
Janis is alright. She's investigating.
[To Hester:]
I've got her. It's alright.
[And since she's gone pliant, now that the initial shock of waking has faded, he's going to slide one arm behind her neck and shoulders, and lift her up so that Peregrine can do what she has to.
Once the wound is bandaged, Benjamin settles Maya back down so that her head and shoulders are propped up in his lap, and begins stroking one hand through her long, dark hair, reaching up with the other to wipe away the tears of relief that begin to spill out of him before they can fall down onto her.]

[ Once she has Maya wrapped up with gauze and medical bandages, she'll slowly pull off her gloves, to place in the blanket. She leapt right into...everything, so it's not like that means her hands are clean; they're positively covered in Maya's blood.
But...this time, it's because she was able to do something about it all.
Peregrine can feel her pulse pounding in her throat for the first time. The calm she forced herself in is starting to wear off. ]

[Yeah, she's. Got an armful of stuff from the nurse's office, including sutures. She's also managing to somehow scream at a whispered volume.]

LSP's return has Peregrine startle and jump. Maya's here. Maya's alive. Her hands are covered in her blood.
She looks down at them, back up. ]
She's- she's alive, it's okay. We didn't need—
[ And Peregrine stands. ]
Stay here with her. Okay. I gotta— I need to wash my hands.

[She's gonna sink to the floor beside Maya and. Kind of try to organize what she's brought. There's some painkillers in all this somewhere, that might be useful. Sutures, more gauze and bandages- she was just kind of grabbing wildly.]
I- don't have a knife or anything but anyone that tries globbing touching her's gonna have to lumping go through me. I can do this probably.
no subject
She looks at LSP with a small smile.]
I believe it. You're hardcore, Lumpy Space Princess.
no subject
Finally she pauses on LSP and... god help her, she tries to smile.]
I knew it was a good idea, teaching you to use a sword.
no subject
[Or she's had some REALLY weird dreams, but everyone else seems to think they're memories. It'd be nice if it were real, at least.]
Yeah, well. Don't die or anything, you're still way better at it.
no subject
But he looks up at Hester, and asks:]
Miss Hester. Does she have to come?
no subject
It's part of the rules.
no subject
But the thought of having her out of his sight for hours, when she could still take a turn... Of finding out who did this to her (and Miss Elle, and Orpheus, and Eurydice- God, not them -) only to come back from the courtroom and find that she passed anyway, alone...
He nods.]
Can you at least have a chair readied for her? So that she doesn't have to stand.
