[Last week, Gershwin High School Academy University saw its very first intentional murder! What a milestone! And right after Spongebob's No Murder party, too - that doesn't seem like it bodes very well for anybody's future.

You all wake up this morning with yet another new memory returned to you. You'll also find that the school's external doors have now unlocked. Congratulations! You're free! Unfortunately, you also seem to be entirely in the middle of nowhere. So maybe it's more of a symbolic victory.

Still, you should look around and do some investigation! Maybe you'll find a fun surprise.]

I've had to deal with guys like that for most of my life. It sucks, but you learn to work around it.

...You're not listening, Miss Elle. Men of the law, they have... power to do anything they want. Power enough to make a silly unwanted admirer seem like a harmless bunny rabbit.

They'll ruin your life, like they did mine, if you're not quick about it.

[Elle's brows scrunch together as she looks at Benji.]

[He lapses, looks down at the table.]

Transported for life. Botany Bay. That's what I remembered, this week. That's where I've been, for fifteen years.

[Elle is shocked and disgusted, to say the least!]

You haven't seen your family in 15 years? Because one guy- god, I'm so sorry.

[barberic]

Not a single barrister would hear my case. None of them were willing to go to the stand against the Judge.

That's what I mean, when I say there are wicked men in law, Miss Elle. I have no doubt that's just as true in your time as it is in mine.

I may never know what happened to my wife and daughter, now. But whatever happened to them, I don't want it to happen to you.

[Elle takes one of Benji's hands in both hers.]

I promise, I'll be careful. And I'll make sure what happens to you doesn't happen to anyone else.

[barberic]

[He doesn't say anything when she takes his hand in hers, just stares at their joined hands and tries to find the ability to speak through the lump in his throat.

Finally he settles for patting her hands with his free one, pursing his lips into a thin, smile-adjacent expression.]
