[Last week, Gershwin High School Academy University saw its very first intentional murder! What a milestone! And right after Spongebob's No Murder party, too - that doesn't seem like it bodes very well for anybody's future.

You all wake up this morning with yet another new memory returned to you. You'll also find that the school's external doors have now unlocked. Congratulations! You're free! Unfortunately, you also seem to be entirely in the middle of nowhere. So maybe it's more of a symbolic victory.

Still, you should look around and do some investigation! Maybe you'll find a fun surprise.]

[ After talking to Farrah and making an... Impression, early on in the day, Janis spends a couple of hours doing something else unimportant, but then... holes up in the announcer booth at the Gayseball Field, just sort of. Dicking around with the audio equipment. Reciting memes.

If anyone shows up... there's even odds on her commentating their every move or just spitting out a meme. Player's choice. ]

I cannot resist the siren song's call of memes

[Varian had happened to pass by the Gayseball Field while Janis is...doing. Whatever it is she's doing. At first he just thought she was saying whatever popped into her mind just to hear it spoken over the system, but over time it sounds much more deliberate than that.

So eventually, curiosity gets the better of him and he'll join her up in the booth.]

Okay, I'll bite- what are you talking about?

[fourbutts]

It's just a...

[ Wait. A lightbulb. ]

Oh, sweet Varian. Would you like to impress your girlfriend?

[alchemistake]

W- impress my-

[He's immediately stuttering, his hands lifting up in front of himself.]

In...what way, exactly?

[fourbutts]

So! In the future, where we come from, there are these things called memes. They're like... inside jokes, but for whole groups of people. So you could surprise her by knowing some!

[alchemistake]

"Memes"...

[He repeats it, moving to find someplace in the booth to sit next to her.]

Well, I guess it wouldn't hurt to know a few.

[fourbutts]

Okay, so! First up, you gotta know some memes about Sonic. We both know she likes that, that's a safe bet.

[ She clears her throat. ]

So, his catch-phrase is uh. [ Does her best Sonic the Hedgehog impression: ] Gotta go fast.

Well that's kindof silly. Hedgehogs aren't that fast.

[He's a cartoon you absolute walnut]

Oh, Sonic is. He's the fastest thing around. Alive? One of those.

[ She thinks. ]

Oh! The fucking... the Shadow thing! So there's this video in one of the games, right? I... follow this guy on twitter, he quotes it constantly, it's like...

[ It's time to do Sonic AND Shadow voices. Except she doesn't actually know what Shadow sounds like, so it's mostly just. Gruff. ]

"That blue hedgehog again, of all places."
"I found you, faker!"
"Faker? I think you're the fake hedgehog around here."

[ A beat. ]

And it always sort of devolves after that so I don't know what he says next, but apparently an island explodes?

[Varian opens his mouth. Closes it.

Opens it again, can't quite remember what he was going to actually say in the wake of that.]

So...should I say that to her....?

[WILL SHE UNDERSTAND???]

[ Janis just sort of. Puts her head in her hands. ]

I'm so bad at this. Just tell her you want to learn about Sonic memes. She'll be way better at it.

[Don't worry Janis, at least Varian doesn't understand enough to actually call you out on anything.

He frowns, tilting his head to one side a bit.]

Alright...what other memes are there?

Okay, so a lot of memes are like. Things you can say, right? So... for example, if someone does something in a really unexpected way or has a really wild belief, you can call it "galaxy brain." Like...

[ She thinks. ]

Well, running all of this as a way to get us kids to pay more attention in class would be a Galaxy Brain move on the Wizard's part.

So it's kindof like...reverse psychology?

Kind of? Like doing something really ridiculous to do something only kind of related. Sometimes people use it when it's counter-productive - like if you couldn't open a soda, so you shot it. Boom, galaxy brain.

[alchemistake]

[Varian snorts.]

Okay, that is pretty funny. I think I could probably learn how to use that in conversation, maybe.

[Anything to impress Rina...before she dies!]

So, this is where all the noise is coming from.

[It's been a few hours now, and Cassandra keeps hearing... things. Words or phrases with seemingly no meaning echoing across the gayseball field. So, eventually, she goes looking, comes across the announcer booth and... Well.]

That's me! Janis "All the noise" Sarkisian. What's up?

Nothing, really. Just having a look around.

[She's never been this far out into the Gayseball field.]

What... is all this?

This is an announcer box! When the big strong boys play the baseball out there, someone hangs out in here and runs commentary.

Okay, moving past the fact that I don't know what that is... what are you doing in here? Because I've been hearing... a lot of stuff today.
