[Last week, Gershwin High School Academy University saw its very first intentional murder! What a milestone! And right after Spongebob's No Murder party, too - that doesn't seem like it bodes very well for anybody's future.

You all wake up this morning with yet another new memory returned to you. You'll also find that the school's external doors have now unlocked. Congratulations! You're free! Unfortunately, you also seem to be entirely in the middle of nowhere. So maybe it's more of a symbolic victory.

Still, you should look around and do some investigation! Maybe you'll find a fun surprise.]

[ Well… Alright. She sticks out her right wrist, the one with the bracelet Connor made her, and closes her eyes. She has a bit of a feeling of what’s coming. ]

[ She'd probably be right, be as soon as her eyes are closed Rina starts tying something around her wrist. Just like with Farrah before she sings as she works. ]

[ The last knot is tied as she finishes singing. It's a bracelet made of black thread, but the center of this one is a star made of white beads. ]

There. Um... I hope you like it.

[ The familiar feeling of a bracelet being tied around her wrist. It's accompanied by a warm sensation, deep inside. Once Rina stops, Peregrine opens her eyes and takes it in. ]

Rina... [ She touches the star, running her fingers over it. She never wore bracelets before, she was telling Connor the truth when she'd explained that. But... She thinks she likes it, now. ]

I do. You... You really didn't have to, you know?

I know... [ She lowers the board and there's the smallest hint of a smile on her face. ] But I wanted to.

[ She then looks over at one of the books she has collected. ]

I read about them in one of the books here... they're called "wish bracelets". They say if you make a wish on it and take care of it, when it wears down and falls off on its own your wish will come true.

It sounded... really nice. [ and involves ZERO MURDER ]

[ Oh. Oh, that's—

Peregrine suddenly regards this bracelet as one of the most important things she's ever seen. ]

...You're right. It does sound really nice. Thanks. I'm gonna take really good care of it. I promise.

[ The smile grows. Just a little. ]

I'm glad. I even put a star on it, because I also read about the North Star and how important it is when you're in the woods and...

[ She realizes she's babbling now so she puts the board back, up. ]

You've been here for me since I got here [ Always guiding her. Like the North Star. ] so I'm just... really happy you like it...

[ That's. So fucking thoughtful, oh no. ]

I— ...I'm just doing what I can.

[ Rina smiling is such a lovely sight. It's so small but it's there, and she wants to fight anyone who's ever called her weird for it. Peregrine smiles, and it's probably the most Rina's seen her smile since this last weekend. ]

You're gonna make one for yourself too, right? You deserve a wish just like the rest of us, Rina.

Am I allowed to do that? [ She doesn’t quite get how these fully work yet so she’s unsure ]

I don't see why you wouldn't be! C'mon, like...did it say anything about it having to be a gift?

I don't know what sort of thing to make for myself with the beads though...

It doesn't have to be a star? [ She considers, for a moment. ] What about...a cat face? Like your board!

Oh! That's a great idea! I love kitties.

Would you mind... helping me make it, Peregrine-san?

Me? [ Oh! ] Well... No... No, I guess I need to try my hand at this eventually... But I've never done it before, so, there might be some trial and error.

That's okay, I haven't either. Not before doing these anyway.

We can learn together. And if it's not perfect, that's fine. It's special because we did it together, not because we nailed it first try.

[ This is unbearable. This is teeth-rotting. Against all odds, Peregrine cracks another smile. ]
