[Last week, Gershwin High School Academy University saw its very first intentional murder! What a milestone! And right after Spongebob's No Murder party, too - that doesn't seem like it bodes very well for anybody's future.

You all wake up this morning with yet another new memory returned to you. You'll also find that the school's external doors have now unlocked. Congratulations! You're free! Unfortunately, you also seem to be entirely in the middle of nowhere. So maybe it's more of a symbolic victory.

Still, you should look around and do some investigation! Maybe you'll find a fun surprise.]

[The comfort is nice. She tucks herself further into the blankets on instinct, but then pauses.]

Is everything alright?

Yes, everything's fine. I just wanted to check on everyone before I left, that's all.

[Remiss as she is to leave the comfort of her blankets, she sits up.]

May I join you?

[violentenvies]

[Salieri blinks, once, but steps back a bit to give her more room to stand]

Of course. If you're sure you wouldn't like to sleep more.

[mayavericks]

I... need to be up.

[She steps out of the bed, carefully brushing her fingers through her hair.]

I have things I must take care of today.

Oh? Such as?

[mayavericks]

[a half-hearted shrug.]


Nothing to worry yourself over too much.

[violentenvies]

[right, then he'll just quietly worry about it, y e p]

...I see. Well, at least you might have a cup of tea and some breakfast before setting off for your plans? [eyebrow arch]

[She considers it for a long moment, before giving a nod]

Tea would be good, yes.

[violentenvies]

[he'll offer a small smile at that]

Tea it is, then. [he'll head towards the door]

[Maya stops to gather her uniform, freshly cleaned courtesy of Hester, and then follows after.]

I'll meet you in the kitchen?

[She's angling to get dressed in the bathroom first.]

Indeed. I'll get started on the tea. [and breakfast. it's fine. Don't worry about it.]

[when Maya returns to the kitchen, she'll find that Salieri has not only finished the tea and has it in the pot with all the accoutrements set up on a tray (two cups, milk, sugar), but also is just finishing the process of putting together two simple sandwiches (meat, cheese, lettuce, mustard) and is putting the ingredients away]

[Maya glances at the food, lifts a brow, but says nothing. She simply lifts up the tray and heads out into the cafeteria to find them a nice place to sit down.]

[violentenvies]

[he'll simply meet that raised eyebrow with one of his own, putting the bread away before going to follow her into the cafeteria and moving to sit once she's picked out a table.]

[mayavericks]

Quite the appetite you seem to have.

[She nods to his two plates.]

[violentenvies]

Yes, well.

You'll have to forgive the assumption, however...[he lifts one of the plates of sandwiches, and offers it with a raised eyebrow] A performer needs to keep her strength up.

It's not potatoes, but I hope it will suffice.

[mayavericks]

[A crease deepens between Maya's brows.]

I can eat later.

[violentenvies]

[Arched eyebrow, watching her carefully]

If you're not hungry, I could always wrap it in paper for later.

...I hope you don't think I'm being patronizing, either. I'm simply...[he pauses, hesitating briefly]

...you do so much to watch out for others here, Maya; I'd like to watch out for you a little bit. If you'd allow it.

[Really, she wants to argue. But if the situation were reversed, Maya knows she would be doing the same. She can... at least accept this much.]

Paper would be fine. But only after you eat first.

[violentenvies]

Very well. Fair is fair, I suppose. [he'll reach out to pick up the teapot and pour them each a cup, handing Maya hers and doctoring his own cup with milk and probably more sugar than is healthy, before picking up that sandwich and taking a bite.]

[mayavericks]

[Maya adds a single scoop of sugar to her own tea. She seems to be doing more stirring than actual drinking though.]

May I ask you something?

[violentenvies]

Of course.

[mayavericks]

If you had a way to go back and prevent all of this from happening... Spare not just your friends here, but those from home, all at the cost of us never knowing one another...

Would you think it was worth it?

[violentenvies]

[that is...a hell of a question. He sucks in a breath at that and quiets, contemplating, looking down at his tea.

He's quiet for a rather long moment, in fact.]

...Is the cost of losing everyone I've gained here worth saving everyone all the pain that we've experienced in the first place, you mean?
