[Last week, Gershwin High School Academy University saw its very first intentional murder! What a milestone! And right after Spongebob's No Murder party, too - that doesn't seem like it bodes very well for anybody's future.

You all wake up this morning with yet another new memory returned to you. You'll also find that the school's external doors have now unlocked. Congratulations! You're free! Unfortunately, you also seem to be entirely in the middle of nowhere. So maybe it's more of a symbolic victory.

Still, you should look around and do some investigation! Maybe you'll find a fun surprise.]

[ Janis is... sort of pacing a little when she arrives, with a restless energy. But that breaks when Maya enters. ]

Hey, babe. How...?

[ Are you? Are things? She hasn't been slightly terrified of what Maya might try to do and have no idea what to expect right now or anything, nope. ]

[mayavericks]

[Maya's quiet as she slips into the room. She closes the door behind her. It's probably a little concerning that she doesn't ask for permission. She doesn't even ask if she can sit on a bed -- she just does. Her sword lays across her lap, bundled now in the makeshift sheath she's created.

Janis had tried to ask a question. Maya can guess what she was getting at, and knows that she doesn't have an answer. Instead, she disregards it and speaks.]

I need to ask a favor of you.

[fourbutts]

Uh... yeah, sure. What's up?

[ If this is what Maya needs, it's what she's here to provide. ]

[mayavericks]

Take this.

[She holds the sword out to her. It even has a little belt for Janis to use.]

I don't... Think it is a good idea for me to carry it right now.

[fourbutts]

[ Janis looks at her, looks at the sword. ]

You'll... still be able to handle yourself, right? If someone comes after you without it?

[mayavericks]

I am not as talented in hand to hand as I am with a sword, I will admit that. [She shrugs.] But I held my own against Spongebob the other day.

[She lets that hang for a moment, before.... realizing that it's probably not as comforting as she thinks.]

And... It just means I'll have to stay close to you. I know you will not let anything happen to me.

[fourbutts]

[ Janis sniffs, quietly, then nods. ]

And here I was worried you were here to try to... never mind.

[ She picks up the sword. ]

You got it, babe. I'll be the knight for a bit.

[mayavericks]

[Maya tries to catch her hand as she pulls it away.]

Try to what?

[fourbutts]

I...

[ She looks almost embarrassed. ]

I don't exactly have the best track record with being kept around. You start trying to prepare for it, after it happens once or twice.

[mayavericks]

Janis.

[Maya squeezes her hand.]

You are one of the reasons I decided not to walk this path. [She nods to the sword.] I could not give you up.

[fourbutts]

[ Janis squeezes back, and allows herself a smile. ]

You better not. I have to climb a whole tower and everything about it if you ditch me here.

[mayavericks]

It won't happen.

[Maya glances down, though.]

I am sorry I made you doubt it. And that I did not tell you what I had found out. I intended to yesterday, but then.

[Y'know. Motive.]

[fourbutts]

It's okay. It's not like I told you everything right away this week either. Sometimes you need time to process or whatever.

[mayavericks]

Regardless... You promised me that I would not be alone. That we were in this together. I took it for granted.

I won't make that mistake again.

[fourbutts]

Alright, then... yeah. We'll stick together, as much as we can. Keep each other safe and all that.

[mayavericks]

You'll forgive me if I stick to you like glue for the next few days, right?

[fourbutts]

Oh noooo, however will I cope?

[mayavericks]

Kissing me, I would imagine?

[fourbutts]

The problem is going to be finding time to not be kissing you.

[ What a beautiful stupid teenage dream the Wizard is about to ruin. ]

[mayavericks]

I should hope that moment will never come.

[It's not like Janis is going anywhere tonight, right?]

With any luck.

[ Of course not.

Though there's a beat, as she remembers. ]

That said, though, there's... something you should probably know. About me. You weren't at the meeting when I said it.

[mayavericks]

[Well, that gets her attention. She straightens up and gives Janis her full attention.]

What is it?

[fourbutts]

Uh. Oh, God, here goes the weirdest confession anyone has ever made to their girlfriend.

[ She swallows. ]

I'm... well the short and kind of alarming version is that I'm fictional? I'm... in the same situation as the Balladeer. Kind of.

[mayavericks]

[Slow... blinks...]

You're -- What?

[fourbutts]

I mean I'm not- I'm not fake, but, uh. I'm one of the narrators for Mean Girls: The Musical? But I'm also in the show, so I have... regular people memories- it's been a lot to process, that's why I haven't said anything.

[ She looks down. ]

I just- you know. Open communication. That's what's going on up in Janistown. You didn't exactly- I didn't want to put it on your plate, you know? Before I even sort of came to peace with it.
